  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

I once watched a football game with a final score of 7-3... needless to say, it was an SEC game.

I also once watched a football game that had a final score of 6-6.

Beat that, Blackhawks and Flyers!
HI Summer....Since i heard you mention you were a ref at one time i wanted to tell you this quickly.....

The Referee Chief for decades at our local arena is a neighbour of mine..........At the end of the year Banquets and Awards Dinner's everyone would boo the hell out of him.....I mean it was loud, he was unmercifully booed....Always thought that was unwarranted because he wasn't a bad guy........Just impossible to please everyone when you have that job..............

He's in his 70's now and retired from reffing , still in the same house by my place ...Big Montreal Canadiens fan.......

Yeah, it kind of sucks. With myself, it was actually a pretty quick lesson to learn when I was getting into it that I was entering a job where most anything you do is going to piss off at least ~50% of the people who want to have an opinion about it, and they're going to express that opinion loudly in many cases. I got over it pretty quickly at least. The only person whose opinion I cared about was a scheduler evaluating me (if present) and my fellow officials. I definitely had my fair share of bad games, and usually didn't need my scheduler or fellow officials to tell me that. Basically the last thing you want to do as a referee is lose control of the game. It happens though, even to NHL referees, and if you've lost control of a game, you can tell that you have.

I go watch my Niece's play hockey all the time and people still yell at the ref's all the time.......

Always been that way and probably always will !!!!!!

It would take a major change since it's just the culture of the sport. Best we could hope for probably is to just tone down the arguing and yelling a bit.

In contrast, in rugby (which I also played), just looking at the referee the wrong way might get you a yellow card. Arguing with them even in the slightest is a nice shortcut to getting sent off immediately, which also forces your team to play a player down the rest of the match. It's a very sharp contrast.

Cool....Didn't know that about Rugby....

As far as hockey goes , Coach's and people in the stands yelling at the ref's is just as common as skating , (pretty much at every level) Lol.......

Never understood why Flyers signed him. He was never great in the KHL either. Made no sense.

He looked so lost positionally when he came over- I’m not a goalie critic normally, but in his first showing against Buffalo I thought “ya, there’s no fixing that. He ain’t the answer, not even an NHLer probably.” Then Philly gave him a big deal for being tall, so.. glad it’s working for ‘em.
