Hughes is bettter. He's been better defensively for 2 or 3 years. Last year was close offensively but this year Hughes is putting up more points than Makar.

The scary thing is that Hughes is still improving.

I usually get along well with and respect Rangers' fans, but the crowd at the game today appears to be made of 90% morons. Booing the penalty on their goalie was a collective tone deafness of tens of thousands of people.

There would easily be an NHL. League-wide revenues would just be much lower, resulting in a lower salary cap, and the teams would adjust their finances accordingly if those three teams ceased to exist overnight.

You have a point that there might not be an NHL without them. There would easily be a professional hockey league in North America without them though. It just might not be called the NHL. Oh hey, we even already had one, but it failed.
