I can honestly say that I have never been as surprised by a retirement announcement by a professional athlete as I was by the news he was hanging 'em up in the NHL and heading home.
There was a good interview I heard today on FAN 960 with him. Glad I listened in. Such an honest no-nonsense humble guy who thrilled Calgary for years.
