Why did Roy leave the net empty in a defensive zone face off while on the PK?

I have personally never done this but I am sure he felt he could get the puck back easier by going man on man in the d zone.. Doesn't work though when you have a player play goalie rather than just have each player go man.

I would say almost zero teams on the earth practice this.

Most likely had been boozing during the game. I make decisions like that too after tying on an early one.

Nah, for whatever reason he ended up being a malcontent and you have to ship those guys out as quickly as possible even if it leaves a sizeable hole.

This game isn't so much on Hill as the team got a 2-0 lead and then decided to mail the rest in.

I mean the reason he became malcontent is they decided Hill was their guy regardless of results. The should have shipped Hill out the door, and with cap hits it would have made more sense for us. But again they already decided he was their guy... results be damned.
