Sens playing spunky .... but also self-destructing.
Needed the win yesterday because tonight was basically a scheduled loss. Grueling road trip, 3-in-4 against the Oilers with less than 24 hours since yesterday’s game. Biggest concern now is what happens to Ullmark.

Also our top-six has been completely invisible 5-on-5 the last 5 games. Can’t expect grinders to bail you out every game.

Yeah, said several pages ago that this was a rough game for you guys so fully sympathize. It happens, play it and move on.

Nah, a fundamentally bad player doesn't get 82 points in a season. You don't get to pat yourself on the back because he's got warts in his defensive game.
Yes, yes they can.

One player I don’t think I’ve ever defended from you
Most don’t, outside of the usuals

Where was this first version of Ottawa yesterday? They can’t stay out of the box.

Lol at the junior referee on this game who gives home teams over 60% of the powerplays.

In his whole 8 game NHL career.

These teams are not on the same level.

One of the bottom half efforts I’ve seen from the Oilers and they are working us.
I mean the Sena have just had three in four nights. Less then 24 hours between this back to back. Do you expect to see the team at its absolute finest?

Now the Oilers also on back half of back to back. Again not likely the best Oilers foot going here.

Still a decently entertaining game. I like where both these teams are headed.

A fundamentally bad player can’t do what Bouchard does offensively. Just because you post in the GDT for every single Oilers turn over or mistake, doesn’t make you correct whatsoever. The tinted glasses don’t help you either.
Yes a fundamentally bad player can do what Bouchard does offensively if they are really good at shooting and passing and nothing else. There are other skills in hockey and Bouchard is not good at any of them. He is really good at shooting and passing though, but is really bad in every other area of hockey.

No, not really. You don’t put up the points he has without a strong understanding and execution of hockey fundamentals. He’s prone to defensive errors and is by no means a defensive stalwart, but he was part of one of the best pairings in the league for a full season/playoffs last season.

He deserves to be benched for how he’s played recently, but don’t let that skew his overall body of work. Some people on here yell hyperbole every chance they get.

If you look at secondary assists to primary ratio, Bouchard really stands out.

If it was easy to put up points with McDavid and that Oilers power play, the Oilers wouldn’t have used a top ten selection and be in a spot to pay him to play with McDavid.

Not sure why they wouldn’t use a 7th round selection and pay him league minimum to do what Bouchard did last year.

My opinion of Bouchard has never changed. In no universe is Bouchard a fundamentally good hockey player or has he ever been. He has some really good offensive skills and nothing else. Bad skating, lacks awareness of when he has time to make a play vs when urgency needed. Not physical or aggressive at all. He lacks lots of skills that make a good hockey player. Luckily for him he is really good at the few good skills he has.
