That's just ignorance. Since the trade he has a higher scoring rate (P/60) than any Flyer. The trade was made under the assumption that his play was all downhill, and that didn't happen.

Lol, his play not going downhill doesn't sweeten the deal any. It's not ignorance, it's opinion. And considering he is one of my favourite players past and present, not a biased one either. I am very thankful we don't have him any more under those terms.

Not to say he would be the worst contract Philly has lol, obviously they do have much worse, like AMac.

I can understand Hextall thought Hartnell would start to decline with age. 4.7 million per year for a 20 goal, 50+ point 2nd line winger is a very good value. This year he has 8 goals 20 pts. in 31 games. He's above a 50 pt pace again. He isn't declining.

Good value for some teams, maybe.
For Philly? No. Ugly contract. That would apply to some other teams too. Unless I am not watching enough CBJ and he is a MUCH better player in a lot of areas than he used to be. Those point totals alone don't mean much to me. And I do realize he brings other things to the table, and is better than some players who put up points but are garbage like PAP or David Jones were.
