What he do this time?
He didn't do anything. A flyer got tripped and the ref put his arm up to call a penalty and then a second later, literally, put his arm back down. In the meantime, Ersson went to the bench because he thought there was a delayed penalty and the extra skater went out. Once they realized the ref put his arm down, Ersson went back into the net, leaving the Flyers with 6 skaters. The refs then put their arm up to call a penalty on the Flyers for too many men. The officials huddled and then rescinded the penalty on the Flyers. Torts was irate that the Flyers were going to get a penalty because the refs f***ed up

The ref is a an imbecile. If you put your arm to call a penalty then call it. It doesn't matter if it wasn't a penalty.

I guess I'll give them props for admitting they messed it up, but man. Not a good look at all...

(I'm assuming you're talking about PHI/DET)

I was yes. Then they double(triple?) down by sending Kane to the box for hooking on an absolute nothing stick check.

This is one of those cases where I would love an officials media availability after the game but Gary won't abide anyone questioning the NHL's infinite wisdom and divine righteousness.

That is how it always will be in professional sports unless you go insane on official Unions which would require a replacement ref situation like the NFL tried a decade ago. No pro sport officials are going to speak, not because the league protects them... because their unions, understandably, protect them.

Like that nfl ref strike, had the NFL wanting to hire extra crews and more full time Ref staff, so they could actually bench crews/refs who were bad, but they weren't able to win that dispute. The NHL would have to take that type of effort on.
