If players stopped fighting players after clean hits, people like McCabe wouldnt expect a fight coming. What if it was someone who is actually tough who grabbed him and he ate 3 punches for a good hit becuase he hesitated.

Either we want players reacting after teammates are blown up, or we don't. Can't have it both ways.
