I think your interpretation of the rule is clear as mud.The rule is clear. Hits to the knee are illegal. Caguilla went to throw a body check, then clearly hit Kaprizov on the knee. That should have been a double minor.
That's clearly not incidental. Caguilla hit the breaks in order to initiate a hit. He then made contact with Kaprizov's knee.Pretty sure incidental knee on knee calls aren't a penalty. It sucks, but if Caligula went down on the play I wouldn't call Kaprizov
Edmonton doesn’t want to play a feisty game, they usually end up taking the brunt of it and or start taking bad penaltiesThis 3rd period is going to be feisty, glad Kaprizov was back on the ice, lucky it was just a stinger.
Are you saying Caguilla wsan't trying to throw a hit on Kaprizov?I think your interpretation of the rule is clear as mud.
This 3rd period is going to be feisty, glad Kaprizov was back on the ice, lucky it was just a stinger.
He was, and he didnt have his knee out, and wasnt going knee on knee, Kaprizov shifting his body is what caused it.Are you saying Caguilla wsan't trying to throw a hit on Kaprizov?
Kaprizov's knee was moving forward as well. I don't see any intent. That's clearly not incidental. Caguilla hit the breaks in order to initiate a hit. He then made contact with Kaprizov's knee.
Doesn't have to be intent. If you try and throw a hit, or make a move to impede a player that is breezing by you, which Kaprizov was, and you make contact with the knee, that is a penalty.Kaprizov's knee was moving forward as well. I don't see any intent.
Dirty is irrelevant. If he stuck out his leg it's a penalty. If he didn't move and they collided it isn't.That hit in kaprizov was not intentional nor a dirty knee. My word not every play that ends in, thankfully seems minor injury here, is dirty
Panthers lose in Chicago for the 3rd consecutive year.
Pretty crazy considering how bad the Hawks have been.
Hawks win. Hawks win. Bedard does nothing.Just watched the end of it. This is a funny old league.
Breezing by is a stretchDoesn't have to be intent. If you try and throw a hit, or make a move to impede a player that is breezing by you, which Kaprizov was, and you make contact with the knee, that is a penalty.
Of course. The rule book is made to allow the officials to benefit the favored teams. In case anyone is wondering-
Rule 50 - Kneeing 50.1 Kneeing - Kneeing is the act of a player leading with his knee and in some cases extending his leg outwards to make contact with his opponent.
50.2 Minor Penalty - The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a minor penalty, based on the severity of the infraction, to a player guilty of kneeing an opponent.
50.3 Major Penalty - The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a major penalty, based on the severity of the infraction, to a player guilty of kneeing an opponent (see 50.5). 50.4 Match Penalty – The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a match penalty if, in his judgment, the player attempted to or deliberately injured his opponent by kneeing. 50.5 Game Misconduct Penalty - When a player has been assessed a major penalty for kneeing he shall also be assessed a Game Misconduct.
Notice all the penalties say at the ref's discretion.
It's early. They were doubtful by this time last year.Oilers could miss the play-offs. Way too inconsistent.
