IDK when is the last time a franchise player of Stamkos's caliber had a return game? Chara kind of but he also bounced around before Boston. Giroux wasn't on the Stamkos-tier. Alfredsson maybe similar import but was totally cooked even before he let go. Other than that I've got Modano?

Kane probably works the best in that he was still a productive player when he left (although Chicago had turned into a tear-down and Tampa hasn't). Alfie and Modano were both basically retirement home-level players at the point they left.
