I mean come on, you have a guy who by his own accord, rushes into the net, bumps the goalie and lays in the net behind him not allowing the goalie to back up or even lift his blocker and people are arguing it's not goalie interference?

You get one timeout a game....who cares how a coach uses it? It isn't really a loophole.
I'd vote you should have to challenge before taking your timeout, we don't need to hold up the game just so they can decide if they'll challenge and that's where it's a loophole

Gotta love how people thought this was a sure thing that it was goaltender interference, meanwhile the coach and team had to take a time out + time to review it because they weren’t sure.

That doesn't make sense.

Maybe people saw the interference before the coach? Did the coach take a timeout and see a different perspective or just catch the interference later?

There was multiple instances of interference there. The first bump into the net, then, when Woll tried to raise his glove and stick, he couldn't because Ovechkin skate is laying on top of it.

If you're allowed to stand behind the goalie - I recommend players do it. It will undoubtedly decrease the goalie's mobility.

Can we get a live thread? Biggest event of the year apparently and no live thread.

It was obviously a close call on the GI. I think it was probably the right call but you don't spend 3 minutes deciding on challenging it if you are 100% confident in it.

I mean... the refs took less than a minute to overturn it. I don't get why the coach took so long - maybe there was a delay in getting the information to him.

Even if there was a guy lying on the goaltender there is no guaranteed the assholes doing the review will overturn the goal. Always a difficult call whether to challenge.

Woll has been lights out so far in his short NHL career. I imagine Leafs fans are pretty excited.

He's got to show it over a longer time frame to get the recognition, but he's done well with the spots he's been given.

Just the idea of us actually developing a home grown starting goalie is fun. Goalies are weird though.

It's the NHL
Before a call is made there are several routine considerations
•score?
•time remaining?
•who is trailing and by how much?
•and oh yea...was it actually a penalty ?
