If they can keep up their play of late, perhaps. But that -14 GD on the season still paints an ugly picture.

They've been playing better defense as a whole, the last month or so, and none of the other wildcard teams are playing great (I include Boston on this, not Tampa). Agree, still a lot of season to play.

Bruins are in danger of falling into consistent mediocrity, which is probably not that surprising since they are playing with an interim coach.

It feels like the base of the team is different. What is winning them games is different.

The Leafs do seem to be an emotionally tougher team than last season and certainly have weathered adversity better than under Keefe when they would have simply collapsed at times.

IMHO, it has been the lack of that emotional toughness (and not raw talent) which has been the biggest source of the Leafs' playoff woes in past seasons. Maybe this season will be different.

Chris Tanev and OEL really help soldidify their back end.

They've always had the forwards now do they progress in the playoffs, lots of pressure like Team Canada WJHC X 100 pressure.

Since their opening 3 losses of the year, I believe EDM is 2nd in points and points %, top 5 in GF/G and top 5 in Least GA/G. Not bad. That's with an atrocious PK to start the year and goaltending has been at best average. PDO still bottom half

Never this consistently. This is different because the Leafs have always been hit or miss, 2nd, 3rd, wildcard bouncing around all year. They've been first in the division since basically end of October
