How was it not malicious? If Byfield is injured on the play, it happened by the neck throw, not the crosscheck.

Disagree, tough game to officiate with Oilers playing most of their non-regulars, the game out of hand and a playoff series looming. Last thing you want is an injury. Better to just call everything to keep it tight.

Imagine if the Oil played their top guys and still lost tonight. Would’ve given the Kings a shot of confidence and odds are Kings would’ve gotten home ice anyway with a win in one of their last two. Smart move to keep everyone out.

lack of injury probably stops that from being a long suspension
