Demidov got lucky he didn’t get picked by a doormat team at the beginning of their rebuild.

You’re allowed to suck in order to build up your player base, but you also have to be careful not to get used to losing too much, or alienating the talent that you do draft.

Honestly Demidov would of been the answer to Bedard playing 1C. They would conplement each other so well on a line.

Good game to play rookie in his first game, especially a forward. Hawks not good defensively, certainly helps.

If anything, they look a lot like the Habs from two years ago. Individual play isn't awful but coverage is... rough.

Leafs gooned it up against Laine in the preseason and it cost him 24 games lost. The Habs probably didn't want to risk Demidov to the typical Leaf gutless cheapshot.
