I signed the petition to substitute it with "Whoomp There It Is" but Congress hasn't taken that up yet.

Meh, the U.S. national anthem is pretty bad as it is about a war nobody understands that basically ended in a tie.

I signed the petition to substitute it with "Whoomp There It Is" but Congress hasn't taken that up yet.

I went on a tirade about it in the thread about the guy in Nashville performing it with playing bongos.

The lyrics are about the War of 1812 which like you said nobody seems to understand well, and the actual music for it, if you trace it to its real origins, is basically a drinking song for a gentlemen's club (not the modern definition) in London.

I always thought the American anthem was Hulk Hogans theme song. Was disappointed to find out it isn't.

Saw a couple really nice plays tonight from the Leafs tonight to exit their zone with speed.........Encouraging to see that........That will be one of the big keys in the playoffs...........
