...it isn't "normal"; most teams actually don't want to do it unless absolutely necessary or they feel the player has shown that he is ready...the Flyers felt that he wasn't ready for The Show and it could hurt his development if he was brought up too soon, not to mention they wanted to keep that extra year of control, both sound reasons not to do it...Gauthier (and his Dad) threw a fit and refused to sign...it was a spoiled brat move, nothing more...

Flames only need 1 period to beat those SJ stiffs anyway

I know Wolf is elite and will likely be in the top-5 goalie discussion on a year-to-year basis going forward in his career, but goalies tend to be finicky.

Parekh looks like a stud, but aside from that I just see prospects that everyone has (tbf I'm not the most informed on Calgary's prospect pool so I could be underrating a piece or 2 but I don't see it)

There's a lot of good bets to be top 6 or top 9 fwds and several for a top 4 D but yes it's lacking the blue chip 1st line star producer. Obviously not all are going to turn out but several of them should. Parekh just had a junior season nobody has had in 30 years, I think he's going to drive a lot of offense himself. Still lots of work to do down the middle especially but for year 1 of Conroy's rebuild I feel like they're in pretty good shape.

Kind of wish they would just tell Wolf to take next year off and go see the world or something so we'd have a chance at McKenna.
