...ummm...didn't Subban finish 3rd in Norris voting in '17-18 while Laviolette was his coach??... :dunno:
That was the ABSOLUTE best Lavy could get out of the rock head! 3rd in Norris.
It was kicking and screaming that Lavy got defensive play out of him.

That just illustrates my point even more: If PK ever truly understood Lavy's X's and O's, and even more importantly, WANTED to play that way, he not only would have won a Norris, but been a candidate every year since being exposed to Lavy's coaching.

Bottom line is, the Rangers have lots of problems, mostly in player execution, particularly on defense, but Lavy's strategy is NOT one of the problems.

PK, as usual, talking out of his arse. :snide:

All these damned 2 on 1's by the Devils on the Rangers.

Rangers couldn't execute coverage if their playoff lives depended on it...and it does.

They showed a graphic earlier on a group of Rangers players "not playing to their standards" in offense.
Well, I looked up all the players career averages on a seasonal basis, and all were just a bit behind in production with the exception of Kris Kreider who was WAY behind.

So the players in question aren't that far off from last season.....but the one area they DO seem to be very much off on are the defensive metrics...goals against when they are on the ice.

Now...that either means Igor Shesterkin is a punk goalie (which I don't believe he is), or Ranger defensive execution this season is abysmal....,more likely.

Add to that, Washington playing out of their minds, NJ getting back up to speed, and Carolina continuing to build up to a Cup within the division, and there was never the "gimmee" for the Rangers to be crowned Cup contenders as the media hype would have everyone believe.

Imagine knowing nothing about hockey and you stumble upon the ABC broadcast

I'd probably turn it off within a few minutes.

I don't remember which network was broadcasting the first game I ever stumbled upon (game 4 of the 1996 SCF). Had to have been a terrestrial channel, since we didn't have cable back then. I think Fox, if I remember my broadcasting history correctly.
