It's the way he signed him to the contract. You don't shit on a guy to the press, yeah that was other management, before signing him long term. It's a terrible way to manage a roster.

I don't think Sweeney has been a very good GM over the years.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think the Bruins were as good as they were from 2011-2024 because they usually had very good coaching and not necessarily because their roster was full of great players.

Their team performance was usually above the sum of their individual parts, and that usually happens because of great coaching.

Cassidy and Montgomery were scape-goated because they stopped being able to work miracles with an average roster.

Coaching was good for sure but they did hit on some late picks (the whole top line) that really kept that window wide open......

Look at Bob, who has slightly better numbers on a team with better team defense. He makes bank as well. It wouldn't be hoping, imo. Swayman is better than this year.
