You reach a certain point where you either shit or get off the pot and either take the next step or go through multiple rebuilds, like the Sabres.
The Habs need to aquire a true #1 Dman 25+ and a 2c and a 1G.
The latter two isn't a tall order and if the GM Hughes gets word that Dahlin is available than the Habs have the pieces needed to probably get him if Hughes has the balls to do it.

Yeah and? I’m pretty sure Hughes and gorton know this. They also know making a Cinderella run is good for a very young team and team building. They have some terrific pieces arriving and the assets to make a trade. They’d also be more attractive to UFAs as an up and coming team about to welcome Demidov. A team takes the next step by winning

You do know that the Habs top line has been driving the bus this season, they got a likely Calder winning dman, and the best prospect outside the NHL? Acting like every game we've been getting carried by talentless hacks shows how little you know about the Habs.
