He’s a great two-way 2C, if you have a really skilled 1C. The way it worked for VAN last year.

He's actually not even a two-way player. He's an offensive C. He does kill penalties because he's good on faceoffs, can skate and is a shorthanded threat.

But he's also lazy and forces risky passes and plays that lead to offense the other way at times. He's far away from someone like Alex Barkov, for example. (yes that's a high bar but it's a good contrast to portray the difference)

True enough. But like, he did a hell of a job on McDavid in their series last year. Seems like he can step it up. Nucks fans would know better how often that is ofc.

Lilleberg doesn't back down from anyone.
I wouldn't call him a great fighter, but he doesn't turn down the opportunity, even when outweighed like with Kastelic.

Bottom line though... Lilleberg did his job. He checked the hell out of Bruins players, got under Kastelic's skin (who was NOT one of the players Lill hit), they both go off, while Kastelic gets an extra two for instigation.
