Game in Salt Lake City is over mercifully.

What a garbage game for the Wild. They can certainly burn the video on this one.
Face the Avalanche tomorrow with an angry, clean slate face.

For Utah, good for them.
They have lots of work to do to be real contenders, but they have the right attitude, win or lose, on that club, some good talent dotted throughout their lineup, and now that they are out of Hockey Hell, AZ, maybe their new ownership will do more than just collect bad contracts, be a farm team for other NHL clubs, and actually DO something with their draft picks.

You get paid by the game at most levels of the sport, but it can be a very high per-game rate if you go high enough. The NHL is one of the very few leagues in the entire world that employs officials as full-time employees. NHL officials also get bonus pay for each round of the playoffs they get selected for. That's why I don't really buy it when fans like to claim that officials have no accountability. If you suck you don't get selected for the playoffs or to move on to the next round, and therefore lose out on that bonus pay. That sounds like accountability to me. They also get performance reviews, like any other job. The results of them just aren't made available to the public, as it should be.
I doubt that the performance reviews are legit. if they were a useless bum like Chris Lee would never get playoff games.

Minnesota started the season high up in the central division standings now playing like a contender for the high draft picks.

So I was happily flying back to Vegas tonight and watching games on my ESPN+ app (well done Panthers) when, just as the Knights/Hawks game was starting, we flew into the blackout area and the app terminated the game coverage.

I kinda figured that once I started watching the game, outside the blackout area, they wouldn't take it away from me. I wuz wrong.
