Knoblauch's daily new line combinations are killing the team chemistry. Guys like Jeff Skinner who actually start playing well are inexplicably bumped down to the fourth line after excelling in elevated roles, then shockingly lose confidence and make mistakes again. The team has too many middling passengers who need McDrai to do everything. The D gets really stupid sometimes, but their mistakes look even worse because Stuart Skinner is barely a backup-quality goalie at this point and Calvin Pickard is only in the NHL again because Jack Campbell totally imploded and the team was dumb enough to think their goaltending was fine because Skinner had one good playoff round (after some epic playoff implosions) and Pickard bailed him out against a team that was down to their third-string goalie.
Ironically, the two major moves that elevated the Caps are the two moves the Oilers have been needing to make for at least two seasons... Getting a good goalie and a Top 4 RHD.
