I would say very choppy play on both ends. CBJ probably the better play and containment but we have had our chances and capitalized for a lead

Ryan Hartman, not wasting any time laying a boom in his debut. I got out of my seat and I don't care about this game at all.

First shift of first NHL game.

I seriously jumped up.

6 seconds into his first NHL shift, to be exact.

Honest question: Don't know his game at all, but a possible replacement for Carcillo? I remember in preseason reading the Blackhawks lobbied to get someone like Carcillo for some grit. But, without going on a huge tangent, can Hartman be better?

Very nice goal for Spezza. It's amazing that he doesn't score more

Carcillo doesn't really need a replacement because he's already at league minimum and would probably sign for that again to stay with the Hawks as long as he could given he just got a house here.

The expectation is Hartman may be a cap hell replacement for Shaw who is making $2 million, but Hartman can't play center as far as I know and Shaw has been on the power play most of the last two seasons so it's not an exact replacement.

Hawks also could be showcasing him to flip him for some depth defenseman for the playoff push for all we know. Stan keeps his plans pretty close to the vest.
