I haven't watch Seattle a ton this year, but man they are a lifeless team. Don't look like they have any pride.

They have some good pieces but Francis has taken this opportunity & sent it straight into the purgatory of the middle. They are the definition of mid, and there isn't much upside beyond that.

Absolutely not.
Absolutely yes. Makar won it with 50 pts in 57 games (71 pt pace) on a FAR better team. He probably wouldn't have maintained that pace. A rookie defenseman with say 60 pts is a rare feat. And playing the most difficult position. Should be close in that case but Hutson is already slowing down.

Putting his brief playoff cameo aside, Makar stepped into the league as Colorado's #1D.

I don't think Hutson is overall better than Matheson. Not to say he isn't a deserving finalist, or that he's not outstanding, but I don't think he's the level of Makar was that year. To me Celebrini is #1 at this point & then Wolf/Hutson are contenders.

Celebrini/Wolf
Hutson likely 3rd

He is a better player but not much better. Hutson does a lot of the things Makar does offensively. But Wolf is not nearly as good as the best goaltenders in the league either.
Makar is substantially better than Hutson.

Wolf is top 15 in save percentage as a rookie in the NHL, he doesn’t need to be as good as the best to be considered a Calder level player

Grier should be fined for trading Blackwood and turning the Sharks back into a bad AHL team.

This is ridiculous. You need to watch Canadiens games. Hutson''s hockey sense is elite. Matheson's is not. Hutson does not make mistakes like Matheson does. He is only making some now because he is playing more games and a ridiculous schedule. Matheson didn't put up 60 pts until he was like 28.
Celebrini shouldn't even be in the conversation if Hutson has similar point totals.

Wolf/Hutson

Celebrini/Michkov

Actually Michkov will probably win because the league doesn't give a shat about Montreal, San Jose or Calgary.

How does Ron Francis even still have a job? A smart owner would have called him an Uber long ago.
