It's Martin Luther King Day in the USA today. It being a federal holiday has nothing to do with it also being inauguration day today, but occasionally the two occasions fall on the same day.

Start times actually pretty decently spread out to where you could watch hockey all day if you wanted. Takes a hoilday Monday to get, why not on the weekends NHL? Tsk tsk (I know sometimes we do get it, just very rare)

While the football season is going on that's an easy way to get slaughtered in the ratings. After the NFL and NCAA playoffs, the League has more programming latitute.

I get that to some degree, but I am sure there is fans that only watch hockey as well. NHL needs to get out from the shadows at some point, but shrug
