The names on this list bring back some memories. I remember Svatos (RIP buddy) rookie season, getting breakaway after breakaway while dangling all over the ice. I though this guy would get to 40 goals a year easily. Injuries ruined his confidence and he became a shell of what he used to be. He had some flashes (double OT playoff goal against the Stars), but was invisible most of the time on the ice.
Wolski was another one. I thought he'd be a great complimentary 2nd line winger. Had the size, poise for awhile, and when shootout started, he'd never miss. IIRC, he commitment to training and his work ethic were getting worse, and he was traded away. I think he was out the NHL soon after.
Karl Skrastins and Rusan Salei I though were decent defenseman, and I enjoyed watching them play. They were traded for each other and never played at the same time for the Avs. They both perished in the 2011 Lokomotiv hockey plane crash. Interesting, Varlomov joined the Avs that season (traded from Capitals). His rights were controlled by Lokomotiv and he was threatening the Caps that he'd return to Russia, but was traded. However, he did want to play for another team other than Lokomotiv, but who knows what would have happened had he returned to Russia.
