1. not allowed to ice when on PK
2. rule 48 needs to be changed to any contact to head with no loophole
3. penalty doesn't end when you score
4. reviews have a 5 minute timer - if you can't prove it after 5 minutes the call stands

Point system - each game is worth three points, so current system except RW is worth 3.

No offside review, except Toronto (not TML , the league official that is watching from Tor)can call for an egregious offsides.

Sorry, think I misinterpreted this originally- so a regulation win is worth 3 points, an ot win is 2, and an ot loss is 1 point? I like that a lot more, but should clarify either way.

Change the puck over glass rule, to no penalty, just no player change (like icing).

With the schedule running well into warmer weather, and the league expanding into warmer, southern States, the ice conditions continue to become an issue. Why penalize a team for a wobbly puck, accidentally sent over the glass. Imagine deciding a playoff series on a puck over glass penalty!?

Sorry Ezekial, that’s kinda contradict the rule of FunkySeeFunkyDo.

Every game is worth the same amount of points.

No Ryan Callahan.
Ban referees and let the players police the game themselves.

Rule #13. I hate it, but it is a practical rule change. Allowed.

Puck over glass delay of game should only be a penalty if deemed intentional.

Thank goodness, we return to reason with rule #14.

I'd consider allowing teams to submit an optional 2 referee blacklist from officiating their games if they perceive a bias against their team in particular and can provide some historical evidence. This would be submitted discretely and would not be disclosed to the official or public in any way

thrown out of game if you jump a player and start a fight against a guy who threw a hit refs deemed clean. This is rather than the subjective instigator penalty

Eliminate cross conference games entirely. They’re at stupid times against boring opponents. Watching my team play the Oilers at 12 am is beyond miserable. You should be playing 8 games against your divisional opponents, minimum.

Suspensions based on injury severity, if it was already a suspendable offense. Just because a player is injured on a routine play, shouldn't make it suspendable.

A two-hander to a players wrist, no injury, it'll be a 2 game suspension. Broken wrist, still two games, so dumb. Should be a lengthier suspension if it causes an injury.

Empty net goals count as two. Would create excitement for teams down a goal or two at the end of games. And teams up by one or two don’t shell defense in the third and create boring periods.

Change playoff format to add 2 more teams per conference. Single game knockout to determine WC1 and WC2 final spots.

7th seed plays 8th seed - winner earns WC1, loser plays next game for WC2
9th seed plays 10th seed. Winner gets to play for WC2

Loser of first match plays winner of 2nd match for WC2.

All top seeds have home ice in these games. Playoff rules - so OT till winner, no shootout

What this accomplishes:

- more rewards for being top 3 in division (automatic playoffs) vs WC (have to fight for it)
- more unpredictable playoff race and matchups
- still gives significant edge to teams seeded 7th and 8th over 9th and 10th (only need to win 1 game vs 2)

If my above playoff rule can't make the cut due to other rules taking precedence, here are two backup ideas in order of preference:

1. Change the point system.

3 points for a regulation win
2 points for an OT win
1 point for a SO win
0 point of any kind for a loss

Yes its unbalanced where some games are worth more or less points - but the one true constant is teams would never play safe to "not lose", but rather always go all out to win. Makes playoff races completely unpredictable too, with abilitity to earn anywhere from 0 to 3 points per game. With how close everyone in East is right now - it would truly be a wild race to finish

2. This one is super minor, but a pet peeve of mind.

Play should resume where play is stopped, outside of icings. So if a penalty is called, you dont automatically start PP in offensive zone. That always felt off and unnatural to me

This is the most sensible suggestion in this thread so far.

Get rid of the offside review / challenge.
Linesman would just call a play offside if there's any doubt, so the flow of game has the potential to be ruined anyways
1. not allowed to ice when on PK
2. rule 48 needs to be changed to any contact to head with no loophole
3. penalty doesn't end when you score
4. reviews have a 5 minute timer - if you can't prove it after 5 minutes the call stands
As much as people think, it's not easy to not hit someone in the head, even if you're wanting to make contact. It would mean the end of hitting almost. Would also reduce CTE by like 99%. Could create an increase in hip checks, though

The penalty doesnt end after you score. That just invites special teams teams and diving like crazy to draw calls.

The other 2 are solid.
Puck over glass delay of game should only be a penalty if deemed intentional.
Too hard to determine intention. You'd have to bring that in for trips and high sticks as being a professional player means you're super careless with your stick.

1) Two minute limit on all reviews of any kind. If can’t tell within two minutes, call on ice stands.
2) High sticking is two minutes or a major. A guy getting a cut should not factor in decision.
3) Embellishment reviews after game by League. 1st event is a fine. Second event is an automatic 1 game suspension. No time limit. If you did it last year, still on your resume this year.

It’s not that hard. It also rarely happens. Maybe once a game at most? High sticks, regardless will always be an infraction.

Players who injure other players with head shots are suspended for the amount of games that the injured player misses, up to a maximum of 10 games.
