:canes are proud to announce contract extensions of F Alexander Semin and D Karl Alzner

Alex's extension is for 5 year at 5.5 mil per year for a total of 27.5 mil. He will recieve a limited NTC for the length of his term to a list of 8 teams of his choosing.

Karl recieved a contract for 6 years 27 mil total at an AAV of 4.5 mil per year. Karl will have the same NTC as Alex's for the final 2 years of his deal.

The Ferraro in the Roy trade was Landon, not Ben, and you missed the Pominville trade:

Sabres: Pominville, BUF 4th for Red Wings: Nyquist, White, Helm
 
Couple questions. This likely wouldn't have come up before due to the changes in the new/old CBA.

- Can we make trades and retain salary?
- What happens to players in the minors over X salary - does the salary over X count towards the cap?

I would think no to both just for simplicity sakes... but figured I should check before I start asking Kreshaw about extensions for a couple players.

Also, as we're part way into the real season, and teams have more than 23 players on their roster due to injuries, etc. Is there a grace period to send players to the minors who would normally have to clear waivers?
 
Only 27 teams have posted in the roster thread. If you haven't at least reserved your spot in there please do as soon as you can so we know who is still with us. Thanks. :)

Oh that's fine man, I saw you reserved your spot and I know you're active. There's just a few GMs who haven't posted in there at all and I want to make sure we have a full group of active GM going forward.

We are not going to have trades in which salary can change hands. It think that it may be too hard to monitor and keep up with. I think, as I've said all along we want to keep this as realistic as possible, but at the same time as simple as possible. So for the sake of convenience lets not make trades with the ability to retain salary.

As per your second question, I think that we should start with the rule that players in the minors will not count towards your cap, but I think if people start to use that as a place to bury talent then we can change that rule.
 
@TSNBobMcKenzie Looks like the price for St Louis has dropped for teams deemed strong contenders.

@JSportsnet Echoing what @TSNBobMcKenzie said, the price for Lecavalier is rumored to be just a 1st and cap dump now. However @TBLightning only wish to move him to a team deemed a strong contender...
 
I'm also willing to absorb salary dumps. Make it worth my while, but I'm not going to ask for a lot.
