Ahhh I see why Miyagi had some trouble in his teens. Hopefully he develops into a dangerous sniper.

Crabb Man couldn't help his team make a deep run in the playoffs for his final year. Overall I think the fans of the Yakima Valley Hops couldn't be happier with how much he's helped the franchise evolve!

How did you like the 2027 draft? I just finished that year with my Atlanta save and it was painful haha - with my first pick the best available prospects were third liners projected lol

Really glad that Miyagi is at least NHL caliber :D pretty solid for a rookie year

Alright Crabb Mann @Eberle Is Edmonton13 time for you to turn my crappy hometown franchise around.

Even with the expansion draft KC can’t seem to do anything right! And fellow newbies Quebec have already won the Cup!?! I like what the KC GM his doing better in @abo9 ’s sim story but where there is a Crabb Mann, there is hope! Hopefully him centering Luigi is a thing!

Also Poland a WJC semi-finalist? I don’t think any of the superstars are from there…? That’s quite a showing.

S5 Quebec Nordiques Update
Gonna try and update every year to give you an idea of what's going on with the Quebec Nordiques. Anyways what a year we had with this Quebec team. I'm pretty sure I had the oldest, if not one of the oldest rosters out there in the league. It took my a few seasons to completely overhaul the forward group but I was able to do it. My defensive core has stayed the same since the fantasy draft. I was really happy with the team I built. It wasn't the fastest, but we had a lot of high end forwards who were great two way players. Ross Colton has been amazing, he's a true scoring leader. Unfortunately he wants to test the market and after winning the cup this season, I'm looking to retool. It's why I went out and got Nick Robertson. I'm a huge leafs fan as you all know and I wanted to have a replacement on the LW. We got lucky in last years 2026 NHL Draft where I had 3 first round picks. Phenom, Ryan Roobroeck fell to us at 13 and my jaw almost dropped. He's going to be a cornerstone for us. Overall we didn't score a ton of goals but we suffocated teams with our two way play. I also set custom tactics which seemed to help push us over the edge. But now with my core aging, I'll have to retool and I'll have 20-30 million to play with, while also having some young guys push up. Marchand and Bergeron are retiring. O'Reilly signed a 1-year deal, so he's out the door, Ross Colton, Max Comtois and Torey Krug all set to test UFA. This team will look differen't. Also what a two-way stud Ryan Leonard is. I'm expecting him to make a huge jump next year and be a top 6 forward for us on the RW next year. We got him at #53 overall in the 2023 draft and he's an absolute stud. Looking like my best pick so far from 2023. Still waiting on Calum Ritchie and Cam Allen to develop. I think we are in an amazing position we have so many prospects and even after winning the cup this year, I had a top 10 pick. I traded my original 2027 first for Brandt Clarke a few seasons ago. But I was able to flip Owen Tippett for a first rounder from Ottawa before the 2026/27 season started because I had no room for him and Ottawa shit the bed!

We signed Whitecloud to a 2-year deal worth $5,800,000 ($2.8 million per year) to solidify our defensive core.

We signed Steve Stamkos to a 2-year deal worth $11,750,000 ($5.907 cap hit per year)

We signed Ryan O'Reilly to a 1-year deal worth $1,000,000 per year

We signed Sidney Crosby to a 2-year deal worth $3,580,000 ($1.790 million per year)

We signed Sam Montembeault (MY MVP FOR THE SEASON IMO) to a 1-year deal worth $905,000. We extended him because he was a legit goaltender for us

Lol @francis246 what a team of geezers but they are all legends and it worked! That’s a wild ride for the Cup! Hopefully some of your younger guys have more in them with bigger roles coming up. I’d like to see more out of Ryan Leonard and Robertson. Clarke has turned into a blueline leader. Lots of question marks for the Nordiques next year, can they back up their championship or was it a flash in the pan???

Great year from Valeri to dominate as player the WJC20 and KHL. Perfect time to move motivated to the Trashers and help the team.
I am wondering with his success that he was not playing for the Russian Men's team at WC.

For whatever reason in game (it’s probably hard coded) Russia never takes young talent to the world championships lol. I always notice that.

Great first season for Valeri and winning the Calder! It looks like he is playing first line wing with Iuotto @NORiculous and clicks very well with him. Hopefully he will reassign with the Trashers.
Trashers as a team were not so great and missing the playoffs, which brings me again to the point why Russia boycott him again to play for the WC?
Valeri was the second highest Russian scorer and he had more shots on goal as Auston Matthews (447:437).

Wow 8.44 Rating for Adrian, I guess that means he is a two way beast? (Tbh I don’t really know what rating stands for or how it’s determined maybe @francis246 could quickly let me know?)
Yeah I don’t know. My guys always seem to get stuck between 7 and 7.25ish. But not sure what it means.

In any event, 8.44 is really good at something. lol

So every game your player is assessed a rating out of 10. If your player rating goes up every time you have a strong performance. So for example you score a ton of goals, block shots, lay hits and win faceoffs. You can have a high AvR. I’ve seen 4th liners in game who maintain above 7, rarely score but lay the body every night. Higher the AvR the better.

Genghis Khan from the last edition is an example of that. In his early NHL seasons he was a 4th liner but a defensive specialist and was in the ballpark of an average of 7.50 or so. His average was out performing many of the superstars who were getting PPG despite he himself getting like 15 points a season.

From my experience with EHM:

AvR is really good to compare relatively similar players (e.g., two top six wingers). Can tell you which one is going to be more impactful, on average.

Not quite as useful when comparing different positions, or a top line winger vs. a grinder, etc. Mostly because very different things are going into each player's AvR.
