HF Board Update questions/issues thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

    Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

This is hideous and if I had OCD I'd be clicking the mark read button every five minutes.

Ed - the dark blue is better than red, admittedly. Also now the formatting options on the reply box have changed colour and are now white and barely visible.

It helps thanks. My personal preference for a permanent solution would be the cleaner version of a slight font increase in bold, but it's fine either way.

If it bothers anyone with OCD they'd probably be clicking on all the bolded unread threads anyway.

BTW, any suggestions that I have, and probably most others, don't need to be rushed at this point. The site is working close to how it was before and these little tweaks are probably more time intensive than important, since they will probably impact other parts of the site that will need to be fixed.

Unfortunately most of the bigger ticket items I've already attempted to fix and can't, it's probably on the host or someone with server access.

Cool. One other small suggestion regarding the bolded text that you could perhaps look into alternatives whenever you have time or when the site is stable.

In dark mode, when you want to bold a sentence of someone's post in a quote, so it's clear you're specifically replying to that, it's even harder to see than the threads because the text is smaller. Like I did in your quote here after the comma.

Was this way before the crash too.

Web design isn't my area of expertise, I lean on others for that, but perhaps there's a way to make all bolded text have a font increase globally across the site? That could help address both the threads and the quoted text.

Just a thought.

The only other thing left for me to really "like to have" is the username color under the avatars to be easier to see in dark mode. Thanks in advance.
