I do not believe we have any ability to say whether that is true or not.

I have seen Josh state things as fact just this week that I know are 100% incorrect because I have first hand info. He states things as facts with nothing to back it up, and then acts like the most arrogant prick of you dare question it. Him and Adams are the kings of unearned arrogance.

Why would I try to convince someone who is incapable of objectively looking at this issue? Most recently you posted Sportrac numbers that are complete bullshit. They don’t mean what you presented them as meaning. But they fit the narrative you already believe, so you grabbed them and posted without digging into their veracity.

I f***ed up passing along Ben Mathewson‘s tweet with Sportrac numbers as well. But then I looked into them to see how we stacked up with other teams. Only to find out those numbers don’t at all represent the total amount of spending by a team. I’m sure we’re probably in the bottom third, but I’d like to see the true numbers. So then I can compare and contrast with the true numbers for other teams.

If you actually had an open mind, you would see that Pegula is just as involved with the Bills’ training camps, personnel meetings, draft prep, etc., as he is with the Sabres. We even have quotes of him arguing in favor of drafting certain players during pre-draft meetings with the Bills. We know he has a management set up where McDermott answers directly to him. Beane is effectively McDermott’s right hand man and not his boss, which would be more common for a GM.

I think it's only fair to give credit when it's due, regardless of narrative. There are some really crappy owners in the NFL and Terry has not been in that category regardless of the criteria you use.

You’re not really addressing what I posted. Which is he runs both teams the same way. Part of that is unorthodox hiring practices. You’re talking about giving credit where it’s due. Credit for what exactly? Gettin lucky with one of those unorthodox hires?

He hired a first time head coach and also gave him GM powers. Something (GM powers) McD had absolutely zero prior experience with. Pegula also had McD answer directly to him and not the existing GM (Whaley). Which effectively undermined Whaley’s ability to be GM. Any open minded assessment of that arrangement would describe it as dysfunctional. And it stayed that way leading up to and through the draft. Then McDermott effectively hires his own GM in Beane (also a first timer at his postion). But is effectively McD’ right hand man instead of his boss, since the coach answers to the owner, not him.

That set up is as f***ed up as anything Pegula tried with the Sabres. The difference is it worked because McD and Beane were good at their jobs. So no one gives a shit about the dysfunctional way they came to be. I certainly don’t care. I’m just enjoying entertaining football. But I’m also not going to pretend Pegula played some special role in this coming together.

He’s no different with the Bills than he is with the Sabres in terms of management of the team. He just got lucky with his current coach/GM hires and the NFL prints money.

He had bad luck with the Sabres. So he's not to blame, I see your point.

You cannot convince me that we can objectively know how involved Pegula is with the day to day hockey/football decisions for either team and if he is involved in the same way and the same level with both teams.

We see the media stuff the team puts out around the draft and he’s around both teams. But, we don’t really know how much weight he pulls when McBeane are making decisions in FA or the draft as opposed to how much he’s influencing Adams and company.

Maybe it is the same. Maybe it’s different. Objectively, we don’t know.
