Hey Avs fans....Are you going to give Nichushkin a second chance?

Historically, players who have entered the player assistance program was the beginning of the end, Carey Price, Bobby Ryan, Kuznetsov. Laine was just in the PAP and couldn’t even make it to opening night. The PAP is really the last mile in a players nhl journey unfortunately.

Given the Avs start to the season and how talented Nichushkin is, there's not much choice. Would be hard to get good value back in a trade considering his baggage. Might as well keep him and cross the fingers that this is the chance where he defeats his demons.

Not really. He had his second chance and he blew it. He's on the team and not going anywhere so I'll hope he does well for the team, but he's now screwed up back to back playoff runs. The Avs give him an eight year deal and this is what he does? This team's window is limited, they kinda went all-in last season, and then he f-ing pops again on a playoff game day. And he shows zero remorse, either. Instead, for the second summer in a row after he popped, we got offseason pictures of him partying and having a good time in Europe.

Basically have no choice but to hope he does well, but I have no liking or respect for him.
And this is Val's third chance on the Avalanche. There were more "chances" before.

It’s this. But it was always this without Lehkonen, Drouin, and Landeskog. Between Landeskog and Nichushkin, the Avs had two lines in the water. With Landeskog’s setback, Nichushkin has elevated importance. And trading him for pennies on the dollar doesn’t really help this. They’re better off rolling the dice with his upside.
