Hey Avs fans....Are you going to give Nichushkin a second chance?

He played last night coming from his suspension.

I remember reading the boards back when he was suspended for improper conduct for the second time.

There were some fans here saying he should be traded and that he became a liability to the hockey team.

Since hes back, are you going to give him a second chance?

Wouldn’t this be at least the 3rd chance?

With that though, if he can play the game we know he can, then I am all for it as Soundwave said, he does outplay his contract value when he does. Biggest thing is if the locker room is fine with him back in there (which we will never truly know), but what they have said is they welcomed him back with open arms basically

At the end of the day they won a cup with him and that can't ever be taken away

He is an amazing player on a deal that he should easily overproduce on.

If he screws up again, his contract can be terminated, simple as that.

Would I love to trade him today a Tage Thompson or Kyle Connor or whoever is comparable points wise? Hell yes, but the Avs are handcuffed and hoping he figured out his issues.

What did he do anyway?
Rumor is cocaine issues, but since he went into the player assistance program, its actually taken out of the Avs control compared to probably 50% of the league who also has cocaine issues.

Crazy how no media member ever really bothered to look into what happened in that Seattle hotel!

I’d bet it’s not even that close to 1/2 players who have ever even tried it, let alone who have an active dependence on it :help:

Yikes

Hooker and drugs. Seemed pretty simple, but why blow up the dudes life worse?

Wow, you’re on a roll…didn’t he miss an important playoff game that day? Not a normal or healthy situation

I don't think it's good to be found in a hotel room with an woman so intoxicated you need to have the team doctor call 911 and team security whisk you out of the city. Doubly not good when that woman told police someone took her passport!

A lot of NHL players (just like everyone else) have healthy relationships with drugs and alcohol, and some of them struggle with addiction. The hotel incident goes way beyond those struggles, and deserved (and still deserves) much more attention.

Do we have a choice on that one? He remains our player for now, and since we want our team to do well and win stuff, we will have to cheer for him, as he is a good, vital player. Regardless of our feelings about him or the fact he f***ed up our last 2 play-offs, when he was unavailable due to his own stupidity. Between him and Landeskog we had 13 millions of cap, that we could not use, in a game, where other teams dont hesitate to pull out "Mark Stone moves" and field almost 100 million cap-teams to improve their chances.

No offence to my fellow Avs fans but very few were willing to give this guy another chance back in May. A lot of revisionists nowadays tho. Having had similar issues to nuke in my past I hoped he could get back to form and with my team. Go Avs and Go Val!

Not really. He had his second chance and he blew it. He's on the team and not going anywhere so I'll hope he does well for the team, but he's now screwed up back to back playoff runs. The Avs give him an eight year deal and this is what he does? This team's window is limited, they kinda went all-in last season, and then he f-ing pops again on a playoff game day. And he shows zero remorse, either. Instead, for the second summer in a row after he popped, we got offseason pictures of him partying and having a good time in Europe.

Basically have no choice but to hope he does well, but I have no liking or respect for him.

Not an Avs fan but I’d always give someone with substance abuse a 2nd (or 3rd) chance until it’s clear that tough love is needed for them to get better. There is a fine line though with enabling.

What!?

there’s probably less than 10 NHL players who have done or are doing drugs. (And I’m being generous)
drugs and alcohol.

With how obsessed everyone is with fitness these days from such an early age I think it's definitely declining, but I guarantee you there are closer to 10 guys a team who have done or are doing drugs than there are 10 in the whole league.
