Ponomarev is a real piece of shit. Second major and ejection for him this week against Hershey. This time he and Dube were exchanging shots after the whistle, and once everything cooled down and the refs were in between, he absolutely cold cocked Dube and knocked him to the ice. And of course he saluted the crowd on his way off the ice. I'd love to see Smith get his hands on him the next time these two teams play. It would be especially fitting given that Smith is the one he boarded to get kicked out of the game on Tuesday. He was given a match penalty so he should get an automatic review from the league at least.

Vinny with his first pro fight tonight as well. Not much of one but he basically just rag dolled Sam Poulin to the ice.

Priskie tied the game with 11 seconds left and Lapi scored the OT winner about three and a half minutes in. 4-3 W Hershey. Feels good to beat these shitheads twice in one week.

Finally for Lappy too. Boy did he need to score a big goal.

Im starting to think Bear could be a call up if needed. Hes having a good season
I've been thinking the same. I'd always assumed the Caps would only keep him around long enough to hopefully trade him. But I've started considering that if they need a fill-in D when it matters most (e.g. playoffs) that he may actually be a better option than McIlrath or Alexeyev.

And likley better then trading for a random depth D at the deadline

Lappy AHL player of the week

Dude didn't forget how to hockey, he was just in a slump and needed to get his confidence back. People here wanted to trade him so fast, so impatient. He's going to be a solid player for the Caps for a long time, because the Caps are patient enough to let him develop properly. Happy to see him finding his game again.

Confidence is such a fickle thing.

Not just trade him, but throw him in as an afterthought. As if he was worthless.

Playing with confidence and putting in a consistent effort goes a long way with Lappy. He has a ton of talent with the speed, playmaking, and vision. Some would disagree, but he's a dynamic player and one of the best players on the Caps for carrying the puck and driving play when he's on his game.

On defense… while it hasn’t shown yet, you need depth at Dee. So I’m keep Bear for both Hershey and as a call-up. Gone after this year, no compensation coming back. Fine.

And yes, on a couple of conditioning stints. Would love to send Mac down for WBS. And then give Alexyev a stint after that (or before).

On Lappy… you all know my thoughts. Glad to see him seeing some success now. Part of the process.
