Just watched the end of the Bears game. Ethan Frank got the winner late in the third off sweet pass from Dube in the corner. Another slot goal. he loves those. He then had a breakaway right after that for the hat trick but he couldn’t beat the goalie. 5-4 Bears.

Also, Iorio out there at the end. They are definitely putting him in critical positions which i love.

Wonder if Frank will ever get a shot in the NHL. Starting to seem like an unlikely path with Washington.

You really hope Frank gets a game or two this year. It was odd he didn’t get one last year with all the injuries but I know he was hurt a few times himself. He’s slowly phasing himself out of prospect status as he turns 27 in February

Yep… he was hurt when his number would have been called. Bad timing for sure.

We do have Frank under contract this year and next. It is one way next year but buryable. There are a lot of younger guys in front of him. I wonder if he is tradeable at all. His agent would probably be required to go do the shopping.

I don’t think he’s tradable. I hope I’m wrong.

Frank ties the game with 100 seconds left and Bogey wins it in OT for the Bears.

It was looking really dicey for the longest time, but the Bears are missing a lot of key players (Limo, Dube, Smallman, Ness, Bear all out tonight)

Stevenson's looked much better than Shepard recently. He made a point blank save right before Hershey tied the game and stopped Sheary on a breakaway in OT shortly before the winning goal. Happy he got the W because he earned it... I'd like to see him get more starts if Shep continues to nosedive.

How has Bear looked so far? Any thoughts on his prospects of working his way back to the NHL this year, either as a Cap or elsewhere?

He looked shaky his first period and a half of the season but has been one of Hershey's best dmen ever since imo. He is totally unafraid to jump up on plays offensively and has been pretty good in his own end too.

I don't think it is so much a nosedive, more he's got to be exhausted. He's played 67 (combined) regular season games during the two Cup seasons with 40 more in the two playoff runs. He's played about three and a quarter seasons worth of games in two seasons. Plus he's got 18 already this season. No doubt he's fallen off, but I think this might be the reason. I assume he plays tonight so we will see how it goes.

They gotta start giving Clay some two-start weeks coming up.

The Athletic has a piece out today with a proposed trade target for each team. Thought this one for Seattle was interesting.

Seattle Kracken

Target:
Hunter Shepard, G (WSH) — Thomas Drance

Cost: Second-round pick — Mirtle

Reality: The Kraken need to stabilize their backup goaltending if they’re going to catch up in the Pacific Division playoff race. To this point, honestly, the Kraken are probably, talent-wise, a playoff-caliber team — with one glaring exception. In games that Philipp Grubauer has started, they’re 3-8-0 and he’s put up an .881 save percentage in those games. Seattle needs an affordable reinforcement in net, and its American League netminders lack the pedigree and track record to replace Grubauer. A player such as Shepard — an elite AHL netminder, with some NHL experience in need of a real shot — would seem to fit the bill. A second-round pick is too rich, especially given that Shepard’s contract is expiring and the Capitals have already extended his platoon mate in Hershey. He’s the sort of piece the Kraken need, but they can’t pay a second-rounder for a player who would project to appear in 15 to 20 games for them over the balance of the season. — Drance

I'm glad I got my tickets tonight for free from my boss. Don't fault Shep for either goal.

HERCO wouldn't approve but at this point I'd be okay with them playing the rest of the season on the road.

On the plus side, I shouldn't have to hear the guy two seats over endlessly bitch about Funk and Luke "Philippe" again.

Well, good for Day. He has been a good piece especially in the playoffs. But probably good for his career to go where he can play and be featured more. Good luck Logan!
