The famous Bears fan FB group is starting to get fun to read again. So many idiotic comments there from people who clearly became fans two years ago. Could easily get myself thrown out of that group.

This team needs to find another impact defenseman and/or a goal scorer if Frank stays up. Hopefully they are active in trade talks

Definitely need another dman or two. I think you said it the other week, but between Ozzy being traded and HHA and Day leaving (not to mention McIlrath getting popcorn duty in the NHL all year), it's kind of decimated their depth. Feel like it's been several years since they made a move at the deadline. Granted the team needs to score too, but 22 goals against in the last four games is no bueno

Also Luke Philp is my Matthew Phillips this year. I didn't have as high of expectations for him as I did for Phillips, but he really doesn't bring much of anything. Maybe they just need to stop signing guys with Phil-sounding names

Maybe Henderson would trade us LuJo? Also . Looks like he has only played 21 games or so. Hurt again?

Not sure who is out there on an AHL deal we could target.

Also suggest sitting 19 &/or 23 sit for a game and let Roe play. Roe is one of the only guys who gives 100% every shift, from what I've seen.

And then there’s always the Caps “take all of our players” crowd. They think these guys would rather play in Hershey than make NHL money being scratched and traveling first class and not on a bus.

Philip was a risky signing because of his Achilles injury the previous season. IIRC he wasn’t a vet so I get why they targeted him. But yeah, they need some guys to step it up big time.

My buddy that I converted to the Bears is in one of those Facebook groups and told me a month ago how dumb it is that people are piling on him. People need to learn this isn't football, you can't just release players as you please, lol.
-Lol, if anything their locker room might be a bit too comfortable. Of course it's hard to say because I'm not actually there. But I haven't gotten any sense the last few years that they aren't a close bunch. Is there really such a thing as a toxic locker room in the AHL? I mean I guess there is, but players and coaches come and go so much. There's been a whole slew of Euro guys going back home instead of staying in the minors this last month or so, happens every year
-Bear has probably been their best dman all around this year imo, but there's always gonna be people whose only idea of an acceptable defenseman is a Derian Hatcher type that's long since been passed by.
-That's sort of life in the AHL. Washington doesn't have anyone right now besides Frank. I'd much rather have Mac here than up in the press box permanently, but he's been gone all season so it's not like it's a recent handicap.

Obviously you know all this, just responding to the complaints of people who will never see my post, lol. I think we've ALL been spoiled by the last couple seasons and I've certainly been frustrated plenty this year. Ultimately going on two deep runs back to back takes it a lot out of you. Truthfully I didn't expect a threepeat from the beginning of this year, it's so hard to do in any sport, let alone this year. I just wish they'd put together some better showings on home ice.

Yeah, i was thinking the same thing. With Aktell now gone, and Ness, Hunt, and Thornton all on AHL deals, there isn’t any LD in Hershey who can be called up (but we have 4 righties).

Could be part of a larger deal where we are sending out pics and a prospect and getting a top 6 and an AHL LD on two way contract back.

Surprised they called up Thornton. Thought the move to Orlando pretty much exiled him. Sure he won't play much but I liked him as a draft prospect. Would love to see Suz get a couple more games at least

I don’t know either. But there are lots of tweeners who can be used a pawns. Trust the Caps staff (and technology) has a good handle on it.

Thought about LuJo (see above) but he'd further muddy the vet rule waters. Not sure who they could target at the AHL level who isn't a vet. Washington bringing in a two way younger guy would really be the only option.
