Especially if the injuries keep piling up

Hofer is the next man up, but I'd much rather inject Cristall than an O'Neil or Empey if it got to that point.
After watching Cristall play, live?

I think people are gonna be disappointed with him. I hope I’m wrong, I really do, but…..

Let’s just say if he is needed in a trade for an impact player for the Caps?

Proverbial “drive him to the airport” is in full effect

@twabby

Can you please show this individual the hockey jockeys fancy stats? Poster SF is obviously not understanding the value that HJ Phillips brings to the table.

This is where us analytical type people can shine!

LOL, sorry twabs, I couldn’t resist 😎😎
I mean, I can't really say I watched him with the Caps, but I figured he was just a classic tweener who was overwhelmed in the NHL but could still kill it in the AHL. Like an Aucoin or Bourque. But he really hasn't shown... well, anything at all, let alone some sort of game breaking capabilities, at the AHL level in Hershey.

It sounds like you caught a Kelowna Rockets game? What was it that you found lacking? I know his skating is frequently brought up as a liability.

I like this guy's analysis.

I'm trying to temper my expectations a bit. I have high hopes because of his track record of producing, but he obviously fell to the second round for reasons.

He was really slow. He didn’t do well when contested, and I didn’t see him playing much in the way of defense.

He obv has very good hands and vision. I just was very disappointed. Iginla was the far better player, at least that night (as were many of the forwards for Everett, that night — Silvertips won 6-2 — Cristall was held pointless).

Edit — and to add to that, he just didn’t seem very strong on the puck. Like at all.

Look — he could’ve just had a bad game. I fully get it. But my personal viewing was a bad one.

I’m higher on him than you, but I also wouldn’t hesitate to include him in a deal for an impact player.

I looked up his game logs….his only pointless night in the last 7 games…

…the skating observations bum me out, but they have shown they can train guys up in that area.

I also would not hesitate to include him in a larger acquisition move…he’s going to be a slow cooker either way…but I still hold hopes he can develop here….

Cristall obviously has his flaws. Long term, at the end of the day, I trust the Caps player development for forwards -- the Caps were willing to trade up to the first round for him, and the Caps have not missed on a first round forward since 2008.

Of course that doesn't mean he's 100% ready for the AHL playoffs. But after enough injuries, he'll be the best choice regardless.

He was a 2nd…..#40…..last real hit in the 2nd was Fever in 2018, next is Siege in 2015….high bust potential….I’m pulling for the player (and @twabby he needs a win ;) )…..
