Yeah, he tried a power move to cut towards the net and got back to the bench slowly. He had another shift after that (I believe), but eventually went back to the locker room. TSN said they believe it was because he was pulled by concussion spotters

I still think we're a dangerous team this postseason - our team depth is still fantastic, and it was clearly shown in tonight's analytical card. The Jets did very well at clamping down our top-2 lines (Aho's and KK's) but fell flat because our depth guys killed them.

Talking about Brent Burns and his 40th birthday: I know the ancient dinosaur jokes get tossed around him sometimes, but if we're being real about the big picture, he still plays at an admirably high level even at this point. I genuinely wonder if he will pull a Rod Brind'Amour and join our coaching staff whenever he retires (he's got enough juice to play at least on a bottom-pair for a few more seasons with somebody). Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I could see him becoming a successful head coach with the sort of elite conditioning that he is known for.

Also, for the record, Stankoven’s nickname is “Tank”. Because while “Stank” is the obvious one, it’s also not one he likes…for also obvious reasons.

Sounds like I missed a fun one. I had it turned on around the preview but that was the last I was able to see of it. Caregiving is kicking my hiney this time. Glad the new guys had a great debut.
This was fun because these boards and this fanbase were desperately in need of an "it's all going to be ok" and the new guys scoring 3 goals on the best goalie in the world was quite the comfort.
The guys bringing the families into the Storm Surge the first game after jettisoning the guy that didn't seem to want to fit in was a nice touch.

And it looked like the team was playing like the team we expect/remember again. Whether it was illness, preoccupation with whether Rantanen would stay, trying to force Rantanen to fit in, they haven't looked themselves for quite some time.
They looked like themselves again. Including a largely miserable power play.

At what point do we start considering using Svechnikov to go big game fishing while he still carries top value?

Maybe if Brady Tkachuk requests a trade, a Svech-Tkachuk swap would be an interesting move for both teams. Canes would get the physicality upgrade but would also lose one season of team control, while Ottawa would gain an extra season of team control but take a bit of a hit in terms of physicality.

Even if he didn't request that trade, I'd float that by Ottawa this summer just to gauge their interest.
But then again, Svech has a 10 team NTC, so we'd have to hope Ottawa is one of the approved ones. Which, yeah....

The NTC doesn't kick in until July 1st. If the Canes are quick, they could approach Ottawa before the draft.

I would much rather ride it out with Svech the next year or 2. There are some guys who take a while to fully break out and I do still think Svech could be one of them. The ACL tear and other injuries certainly didn't help his development. He was still nearly a PPG forward last year and is on a great contract. If he still struggles the next couple years then I'd consider moving him, but right now I still view him as a core piece and a great Cane. I'm open to moving him if a legit top line center we can keep loong term came available so we could have a 1-2 punch down the middle, but that's very unlikely as teams don't let those players go.
It would need to be for the right player.
Svech obviously hasn’t become what we hoped, but he’s still a guy where if he’s legitimately on your second line you’re doing fantastic. This team needs a couple of top 6 forwards. Doing a one-for-one swap may improve Svech’s slot but doesn’t necessarily solve the problem.
I say all of that to say, if he’s the guy it takes to jar a Tkachuk free, sure. But I’d explore every avenue of futures and other means to get a guy like Tkachuk before “giving in” and using Svech. We need all hands on deck.
