Actually 3, counting this year. Financially he would be foolish to not sign after this season. I always worry about drafting NCAA because of their 4 yr escape clause to become a UFA. I think Henrik is likely a reputable guy with high ethical standards and "Character" but this gong show of a mgt team and ownership could turn anyone off. Plus he has developed a friendship with Rantanen in Denver and you never know. :)

The chance to play with Barkov may be a way bigger deal to him than playing with Rantanen. Plus he will be loyal as we were the team to "go totally off the board" and call his name as the TSN/Sportsnet guys snickered at us for the pick but who's laughing now?
He could prove to be a top 10 pick in all mock re-drafts.

Curious what his weight is currently? He looks more filled out.
Denver's website has him listed at 6'3, 190lbs. If he can bulk up to 200, he'd be ready for the big boys whether it's in Springfield or Florida.

I don't have any insight, but looking from the outside, I think Borgstrom should be in the NHL right now. He was drafted as an overager and he's had 1.5 years time since draft to improve his strength and fitness, not to mention the time before that. There shouldn't be excuses about that anymore. And his game is based around scoring, skill and speed, and he doesn't have to have refined physique right now. He can still improve on that. Also the team is desperate for scoring wingers especially starting from the second line with Brickley (Hunt) and Vrbata.

Okay, I just came out of the DU/ND game. Denver lost 5-4 after being up 3-0 after one. Borgstrom is tall & smooth with the puck. He skinny as a rail too. He has decent speed and can handle the puck in traffic with ease. Without the puck he kind of floats around like a superstar scorer. His passing was on display a bit tonight. Great soft hands. He doesn’t hit and he doesn’t go into the corners to fight for the puck. Like I said, he floats a bit. He’s going to need to put on some weight and work on his grinding game before hitting the NHL.

Needs a year in the AHL, no shame in that.
he'll likely b at about a ppg in an ahl season or slightly higher. then he'll make a 50-60 point rookie season with the panthers. will be great right when we get him. and after that.....skys the limit. hepo banged home another 3 pts. its really getting disgusting looking at his #s. could he hit 200? that would be absolutely mental.

None at all. I just know how NHL coaches think nowadays. He’s a pure offensive player from what I saw. His puck skills in that regard are next level. I’m just not sure if I see him battling in the corners on a regular basis. He’s out there trying to find open space to work with. It would be nice if Boughner would let Borgström be Borgström so to speak but I won’t hold my breath.

Will he sign with us?

This is true... wouldn’t he be a full out UFA if he stayed? He could really cash in if he did that and just dominated college for 4 years. But I assume he wants to go pro, so that helps us.

i actually watched back this game and a couple others and it seems like troy terry does most of the work. id hate to think borgstroms stats are majorly inflated by playing with the other best fwd in the ncaa. thatd suck, but then again hes gonna feed off barkov in the nhl so maybe thats just his lot in life.

He's a dynamic offensive talent and like you said, he'll be playing with a center who drives the play anyway. He's got finishing ability which we know we need.

I would imagine Trocheck being sufficiently good center for Borg compared to this Terry guy, a 20 year old college guy.

I watched 75% of Denver's season last season and majority this year.

Troy Terry and Borgstrom are both solid hockey players. They don't need each other to be successful. However, their numbers are both inflated because they are on the ice together at times. I hope Borgstrom is the type of kid who is never satisfied and continues to work hard every day. You got guys like Parise, Toews, and Oshie who dominated ncaa and it transitioned to the pro stage because they all work constantly. As long as the highlights, success, and ncaa domination doesn't get to Borgy's head, he'll be fine.

....a 20 yr old college guy? u mean like borgstrom? terry pretty much single handedly won the wjc for the usa. hes pretty awesome and was a sick steal for the ducks in the 5th round. he's not that much diff. than borgstrom skill wise when u add everything together. borgstrom is definitely flashier though.

They usually play on separate lines 5 on 5 and get put together when they need a goal ala malkin Crosby. Borg has elite offensive instincts and tools.. he finds open ice in the offensive zone consistently and knows where to go.. the puck follows him.. he's even better with the puck... he's got work to do away from puck when not in the offensive zone tho. Needs to play with more pace imo but we'll see how he adapts when he turns pro

Terry isn't near borg skill wise.. he has a good shot and is a much more mature player.. as far as puck skills he's not on the same level.

Dont get me wrong but i don´t wanna judge Borgstrom NHL possibility or AHL strength. On the last Tweet i saw. Sorry but you can see the opponent Team had his problems with Denver all the Time. I think when Borgstrom is here in camp lets see what he can bring to the Table. Or when he play the usual 3-4 AHL Games in the end of the Season.
