Henke (Lundquist) & Zucc Summer Classic 2018

Currently living in Oslo and saw this this morning, let's say I'm pissed that I work tomorrow!

Hank/Zucc press conference today in English. Some may not be able to watch this, could be blocked due to rights. Unfortunately the game will not be televised in North America, there was not enough time to reach an agreement with the NHL.

Yes it will start 13:00 local time tomorrow in Oslo - so about 07:00 in the morning in New York with 6 hours difference now on my mobile clock, because I always have New York local time on it. :)

I'm getting home from work at like 3am NY time. So...uh...I think I'll catch a VOD of it later ;)
 
Any clue if it will be streamed? No PPV info on the site

Still trying to decide if it's worth paying for the game or not.

CMore will also send a repeat I believe on Sunday night at 04:30 Swedish time, whatever that's in NY.

Just to add, if you buy the game through CMore (10 bucks) you'll be able to access it for 48 hours after it ends, streaming only.

Hank won 10-7, but it's important to make him feel good about himself ;)

Hockey gear off, suit on...now it's party time.

I was there with the wife, lot of fun, though I wish we sat higher up or more close

Zucca and Anisimov both had 4 goals

Henke looked better each period

Yes I hope your family enjoyed your time in Oslo - and hopefully we have 4 lines next year with a bit more intensity, but how the players managed to play 20 min. 3 periods with 2 lines is simply amazing! ;)

I enjoied the event. But where was Mats Sundin? Unfortenantly for growing the sport, there was IMO no propaganda hockey. It was so obvius that they where far from their season, packed with hard training and that it was a very friedly match. I counted one open ice hit. And I understand them. This is not the time for injuries. But they seemed to lack too much tempo and enthusiasm to create an entertaining game. As Håkan Sødergren stated,there where problably the best players overall,to have played together on Norwegian ice. I my selfe found the celebrity pre game more entertaining than the main event. And according to the silent crowd,I was not the only one.
 
The point of the summer classic is to promote the game with star caliber players, and raise money for charity. It's never going to be a hockey game of pace. It's purely a star caliber game that will have star power, rather than mimick a actual hockey game with hard hits and grit.

That being said, I am sure that the teams behind the event receive feedback and will continue to improve their product.
 
Only 12 players on the teams, not much rest. 68 degrees in the air, it was tough playing 3 full periods.

On the banquet last night Hank was the entertainer when he played the guitar :thumbu:

They will be up for auction, along with jerseys and sticks the players used. This also includes Hank's gear, specially designed pads, skates, helmet and stick.

All for a good cause :)

I was hoping we would be able to fill the stadium, so I am actually a bit disappointed. OK, hockey is a small sport in Norway, but Zucc is a superstar. Heck, the number of Swedish waiters and waitresses in Oslo alone could probably fill every last seat :laugh:
 
We made the trip for the game as well. It was fun, but I too expected more competition. When Zucc was about to score the third goal and Hank removed the net, I was kind of like, ok this is Allstar Skills night. Nothing serious. I mean it kind of made me relieved with the softies Hank let in all game. The game itself was not great but the interaction with the players and family experience was. After the game all players came out and signed and posed for photos with anyone who hung around. We had a blast, I got a new Jersey from the game, t-shirt, hat, scarf, puck - as if I needed them. Probably wouldn't travel that far again for an exhibition, but it was nice to see them, and interact with them afterwards. Told Mac we miss him and he said he misses NY too, he understands. Told Hags that he leaves us and wins a cup, and he corrects me and says, you mean two. Got so many pictures and had a great trip around the event.
