HENKE down on the team ?

It's visibly and audibly obvious that Henke's level of frustration is growing by the day . Is thi indicative of the superstar back bone of the team growing weary of mis management of assets , coaching and play in front of him ? HENKE has always been an intense competitor , but lately as his level of play has clearly risen the number of goals deflecting in and trickling past him and the lack of scoring clearly has his " SWEDISH UP " . He has made some harsh comments after games basically calling out the team and looks to have even pointed to his defensemen angrily after more failed crease clearing and loose pucks being gotten to or own goal deflections of his own D Men " PACKED " down low in front of him . Does anyone think at some point that HENKE will test the market when his deal is up and look to move on to a place with a more stable management and plan to win rather than the repeated signing of bad contracts and roster turn over ?

I think Hank testing the market is largely going to be decided what we do next season. Its too early at this point to tell one way or another.

I think he wants to stay above all else. But if we struggle next year to make the playoffs, I think he may bounce.

I will say that if Hank is seriously having a problem with Torts, JT won't last.
 
i don't think he's mad at JUST the team. he knows he can win us a good chunk of these games. he always mentions something he could've done better. last night it was the ovechkin goal in the shootout. yeah, scoring 2 MAX goals obviously is bothering him, but he's mad at himself in some cases, too. the guy just wants to compete

i don't think it's soon enough to think he's going to run to the hills because of a bad season. he had a bad start to the season. he's just barely hit mid-season form. he should still be stealing us some games. he's that calibre of a player.
 
It seems to me he's headed towards the way Marty prefers to play which is " allow him to stop the puck " and not pack It in and half block shots into his own net . I really see in his body language he rather have his D level some guys than partially block shots in front of him into his own net .

It makes sense. It's a lot harder to stop a shot you can't see...

Indeed, what a ridiculous premise this is. Henrik is incredibly competitive. Then, you have a team that should be playing better than it is. Of course he's pissed. The guy lives and breathes New York. There are never any guarantees but do people seriously think he's going to ragequit just because of a few bad months? Really? If there was ever an example of reading way too much into something, this is it.
 
Well , it could be more than plausible that he is down on the direction of play and would like some systemic and personnel changes that will address the teams continued lack of scoring or inability to move the puck in transition. His own puck play I think continues to be only chink in his armor and can be directly responsible at times for the NYR getting hemmed in and being weak in transition . While shot blocking is a huge part of the NHL today it also can be directly related to lack of puck possession . More shot blocks points to not having the puck enough . Installing a system and personnel that rely less on " packing the box " and blocking shots and pressuring the points and transitioning faster to me could take advantage of Henke's greatest attribute stopping the first shot .
 
His comment all week about lack of scoring and last night pointing to 2 goals against being a death sentence to the team really seems to me that he is pretty pissed th NYR can't win unless its a 2-1 game and 3 goals against is a death sentence. If their is locker room problems HENKE being the real team leader and his recent body language and comments would be a pretty good indicator .

Lundqvist is going no where.

going to delete the post other than what is above because anything else is pure speculation and conjecture.
 
Torts will get canned before the Rangers allow Henrik to leave. It's entirely plausible that he's becoming weary of this "system". His rate-stats are still tremendous but the lack of goal support has to be really frustrating. He probably would sacrificing his SV% and GAA if it meant the team scored some goals.

Mentally, it's gotta be brutal for him also. He knows going into every game that if he makes one mistake the team is probably toast. Even when he plays perfectly well the team still has a good chance of losing.
 
Hank is pissed, but hockey isn't everything about life. His LIFE is here in New York, he's absolutely in love with the city, his family is growing here (Charlise) and Therese loves it here as well. He has business interests here, and he absolutely loves playing for the Rangers and in the Garden.

He will sign a contract to keep him here for the remainder of his career, and will play out here. His goal is to win a cup HERE, not anywhere else.

Be thankful you have a LOYAL competitor of this nature as a franchise goaltender. We got lucky coming from Mike Richter, and only having to deal a short time between him and finding Lundqvist. I have a feeling we aren't going to be so lucky next time.

Enjoy it while it lasts, and stop the ridiculous talk of him going to a 'cup contender', or wanting to leave New York. It's so ridiculous and far from everything he believes in, and has said in countless interviews.

Some great players never win a cup, its just the way it is. He is determined though, and we still have many more years to try and get it done, even though the window is closing a bit.
 
It's not hard to find a competent coach. It's extremely difficult to get a star goaltender, #1 Center, #1 Defenseman, a 40 goal scorer. Torts will be gone by the time Hank's contract is up if the team doesn't turn it around completely very quickly.

I'm a fan of Torts, especially by the standards of this board, but if it comes to him or Hank, I'll drive Torts to the airport myself. In a very real way, Hank is the New York Rangers.

His rebound control has been below average this season, and that is being kind. I have enough of a sample size with Henrik to know he'll sort it out.

His stick handling will never be good. I have come to terms with that. Richter was horrible at handling the puck as well.
