Hi guys,

I have an original 2006 Dwayne Roloson jersey that was unfortunately damaged during a storage locker break-in. The damage is a brown stain of unknown origin that is over about 10% of the crest and scattered around.

I'm just wondering if any of you guys know of a good jersey/clothing restoration place that might be willing to take this on. Preferably, I'd like a place in the Greater Toronto/Hamilton Area, but if there's a good enough recommendation in Edmonton I'll take that too as I'll likely be in town for playoffs.

Thank you!

Why was it in a storage locker. Heh, why not a frame instead or even on a coat hanger in closet?.

Anyway the stain is possibly rust? or hopefully not worse than that? Drycleaning possible? Depending on Jersey can't it be washed normally in mild detergent and setting and hung to dry?

I'm no expert on these things.

I was moving and I needed a place to store stuff after it was packed. Got unlucky I guess.

I washed it normally with detergent and stain remover, but no dice. Hence why I was hoping someone had some experience with something similar.

This is a good suggestion.

Take it to a reputable dry cleaner and point out the stains and ask for an opinion.

I take my fancy, stitched hockey jerseys to the dry cleaners, ball caps as well.

I never launder in a washing machine.

I also lightly spray the front crest with 3M scotch guard or equivalent when the jersey is new / clean before use.

I don’t own any of those new panini pressed jerseys…yet, so I cannot comment on those.

So my dry cleaner expressed that they'd need to do like a spot bleach treatment and that there would be a decent chance some could bleed on to the parts of the crest with colour. They said to seek someone out that does this with some regularity.

I know nothing about this company or where you are located (edit - TO, I remember that now!!)but I googled fabric/textile restoration and it was one of the search suggestions that came up.

fellow jersey collector here....

do you have a picture?

most of the stains i've ever had have been taken care of by making a paste of Oxyclean and applying it to the stain and letting it sit for a few hours.

The parts of the crest might be harder to remove and anything you try might cause colour bleed.
