Helleson Ejected for Hit on Zary

Hope Zary is okay, but it looks bad. Helleson got 5 and a game. Have to think he'll have a hearing as well.

A hearing for what? Helleson is allowed to make a hit here. Sucks that Zary is hurt but he can’t get caught with one leg sticking out trying to avoid contact

I thought it was almost routine for hits that result in ejection and injury. Or a fine at least. Seravelli says not.

To be honest I don’t even see 5+game on that. Feels more like a call to keep the game from getting out of hand. Helleson stays on his path to throw a body check, even gets some of Zary’s shoulder. Zary has his legs splayed out to juke him.

As a ducks fan I’m okay with the call… tho I do question what/if helleson did anything wrong.

I’ll have a biased opinion and say no I think helleson was fine…. But I assume if it was zegras and not Zary my opinion would want at least the 5 mins+ game.

Also helps emotions calm down, as I assume if there was no penalty on the play the game gets out of hand rather quickly.

Any 5 + game penalty is automatically looked at by the DOPS I believe. Many of them remain just that

Hey look, the results of actual Knee-on-Knee incidents. Watching the Diving Cats in the SCFs you'd think only fake limping around for 2 minutes, a short visit to the dressing room after being advised by the coaching staff to ham it up a bit more for a major, would be enough to heal any and all knee ailments.

Really tired of the “it’s the injured guy’s fault” takes- dude is trying to score. He ain’t even dodging a hit just to avoid hurt, you can clearly see here how he’s that close to a mini breakaway by doing what he did.

Sometimes plays are just unfortunate, and no one needs to be blamed. Crazy concept, but you can say Helleson didn’t do anything wrong without kicking the hurt guy.
