Helle deserves a bit of flack for the last 2 runs, but feels like people forget him taking the jets to the western finals and sweeping the prime McDavid oilers. Not likes he's never been successful in the playoffs before
Also, it's nothing against him, but I feel like he's in a very weak era for goalies. He came right after an amazing generation (Price, Lundqvist, Rinne, Rask, Quick, Fleury, Holtby, Miller, etc.) and doesn't really have the competition these guys had. His main competitors (mostly the russians Bobrovsky, Shesterkin, Vasi, Sorokin) are all very inconsistent or injured often.Until he has that play off success. He isn't in that class ......this is the year he has to do it.
Watch STL sneak into the 8-spot and Binnington vs. Hellebuyck pt. 3 unfolds. At least he should get a nice warm up with likely one of Calgary or Van in the first round, neither of whom can score
Funner than not getting into the playoffs at all.Yeah that sounds nice but if he implodes in the 1st round again ask how much fun you think thats gonne be?
That's a wild assertion. Let's fact check this with the roster for his first Vezina. He’s hard to view as one of the best goalies ever.
His playoff stats suck and he’s always played for a great defensive team that inflates his stats. Some of these analytical websites don’t even have him with the best goaltending analytics this year. His counting stats are amazing and that’s why he’ll win it.
One of the best of his era, sure.
Always? That's demonstrably false.he’s always played for a great defensive team that inflates his stats
I'm pretty sure this guy is Rutger's dad based on the thread in the prospect board, I'm surprised he even gave Helle as much credit as he did in that postAlways? That's demonstrably false.
So you’re gonna bring up five years ago to nitpick one word in my post and ignore that he’s played on a very good defensive team with excellent system structure the last few years? That's a wild assertion. Let's fact check this with the roster for his first Vezina.
Here is the D-men that suited up for the 2019-2020 Winnipeg Jets, ordered by ice time:

Worth mentioning that Morrissey's father got sick that season and he consequently had by far the worst season of his career.
Of course, D-men are only two out of five skaters on the ice at any given time. They also had five forwards in the top 50 in xGA/60 in the league that season.
Tell me more about this great defensive team that has always inflated Hellebuyck's stats.
Or you know, your fan base was weirdly stage five clinger obsessed with this player and maybe you should take a look in the mirror for why he didn’t want to play for your team.I'm pretty sure this guy is Rutger's dad based on the thread in the prospect board, I'm surprised he even gave Helle as much credit as he did in that post
No, I was pointing out that the Jets were atrocious defensively in 2020 (and 2021, and 2022) because you claimed that he has played on a great defensive team his entire career? So you’re gonna bring up five years ago to nitpick one word in my post and ignore that he’s played on a very good defensive team with excellent system structure the last few years?
He dwarfs everyone else this year in counting stats, yet not the analytics (some he does, as they vary). That’s because the analytics account for that he plays in a cozy setup for a goaltender.
This post is pretty dumb. And you're talking to someone that is happy to criticize Helley because he seemingly gets a pass by my fellow Jets fans for his absolutely horrible playoff performances. He’s hard to view as one of the best goalies ever.

You’re arguing semantics, and I’m not going to get into the weeds on this. No, I was pointing out that the Jets were atrocious defensively in 2020 (and 2021, and 2022) because you claimed that he has played on a great defensive team his entire career?
Did you want me to not fact check the claims you made in your post? Couldn't you just not make easily disprovable claims instead?
If, as it appears, you're making the claim that his career is overrated because he's always played on a great defensive team, wouldn't you agree that it's pretty important for your argument that the team he has played for his entire career actually WAS a defensive powerhouse?
You didn’t actually address anything I said. This post is pretty dumb. And you're talking to someone that is happy to criticize Helley because he seemingly gets a pass by my fellow Jets fans for his absolutely horrible playoff performances.
But this is a batshit crazy post lol.
Right now he's the best regular season goaltender the league has had the last 5 years.
It’s a figure of speech. I don’t need to deal with the grammar police. I see that’s what you want to do, so you know you’re fighting a losing battle when you can’t address the substance of the argument and need to try to parse one freaking word you didn’t like. You’re the one who wrote always. Say what you mean, instead of recoiling the moment someone pushes back.
You wrote great defensive team two posts ago. Now you downgraded it to very good. Which is it?
“Last few years”. That generally means around three years. I’ll add a year for your sake.
Before four years ago, he was already a Vezina winner, runner up another year, and fourth in another. The year he won the Vezina, he got enough Hart votes to place 6th. A “few times before four years ago” (three times), he had the heaviest work load in the league, i.e. most games played, highest volume of shots, most saves, etc.
Why pretend he wasn’t already one of the elite netminders before his most recent three year run of what will almost certainly be three Vezina finalist finishes, two Vezina wins, and a Hart finalist finish?
Care to expand?Or you know, your fan base was weirdly stage five clinger obsessed with this player and maybe you should take a look in the mirror for why he didn’t want to play for your team.
