Fluery is the current best player with the highest floor. Stan and Ville aren't as good but have more potential. The Jets are doing exactly what some people are complaining they aren't. They are playing Stan and Ville far more than they deserve to see what they got and that comes at Fluery's expense on the 3rd pair. But there is less room for error on the 2nd pair so they play the best current player there.
Fleury is stylistically the closest player the Jets have to Samberg. In terms of skating to support the rush, and shot blocking. With a guy like Pionk who tends to be aggressive in d-zone coverage, who will get beyond the circles in a man to man coverage, it can break down, and you need a guy who will keep the front of the net. Heinola doesn't seem like that guy. Stanley is just the opposite of Samberg and Fleury in terms of quickness, I think Pionk would have to play less aggressive to support Stan. And conceivably Ville. Maybe it's Miller with the current injuries, and you end up with Stan-Heinola in Fleury's absence. If it were on the road I'd be worried but Arnie can protect his most vulnerable d-men with defensive minded centers to help in support.
I just hope Samberg makes a full recovery and keeps up the pace he had before his injury. The lead the Jets have in the standings doesn't precipitate any panic, and you can test the depth.
Heinola has waited years for this opportunity, let's seee what he is made of. The home stretch is a great time to play him. Jets only have 3 road games in the next month, so that's a great timeline to play inexperienced players, also get a decent amount of practice time with them.
