I was just curious as to what his actual height was as I see a few different sites have him at 5'11, but watching him in highlights this morning he looks way shorter than that. Is that just how he plays or is it more accurate that he's more around 5'9?

Just from eyeing him in the prospects and rookie camps I'd say 5'9 is about right. As long as he stops the puck he can be 3 feet tall, I don't care. :-D

I wonder if he'll keep 74 as his number. Seems an odd choice for a goalie's number.

He just switched to 74 this year. He did wear number 1 in his past appearances in Nashville.

5' 10"

Saw him last night after the game and we're both the same height. Actually I was surprised as I thought he would be shorter based on what he looks like in net.

Was he still on skates?

He does look short, but he has great positioning.

I was talking about a fan, not a player...hint... Marker Buoy

Ah. I thought you were talking about Sergei Kostitsyn and were giving it a negative connotation.

That was Swampy's graduation year. :-) I have such good memories of him. Miss him.

Didn't realize Holtby wore that number. Guess people are branching out from between 29 and 50 now. Fine with me.

Doesn't seem odd to me, but then again, my other team is backstopped by #72 Sergei Bobrovsky, and is in the same division as the Capitals and #70 Braden Holtby. :dunno:

(And I find Bob's number really easy to remember, if only because... well, if you've ever worked financial stuff for an organization that gets large numbers of donations from Jews (in my case, my synagogue) you become very intimately familiar with multiples of 18. ;) )

...
Darren Pippa used to wear #92 or 93...

Daren Puppa. His brother Derek played at UAH (how about a 23-0-3 record in 1995-96 ... when they were still Div II). I've played against Derek in pickup games before. Haven't seen him in years, though.

Funny story - I had a hat trick against Derek the first time I ever played against him. After the game I ran into him outside the locker room and mentioned that he must have had a rough night to let a scrub like me put in three on him. His reply was "well, I follow the guy's stick, and you don't know how to shoot so there's no telling how the puck is going to come off your stick". Which is totally correct. :) That was the last time I ever scored more than one against him in a game, though.

Jesse Puljujarvi of Edmonton wears the number 98... something that, I wonder, they told him might not be a great idea.

Of course, Connor McDavid wears 97, so there's that.
