Post-Game Talk: HC 4 - Jets 1

the la game had nothing to do with a hard forecheck.... we made 3 mistakes in that game, miller missing scheifele with a pass, gus turning the puck over in the neutral zone and stanley trying to skate in on his own... like this was nothing like the la game at all, we played bad and turned the puck over way more in the first period then we did the entire game in la...
I agree there was poor puck management but the kings are known for pressing aka forechecking and those led to the mistakes except Stan the Man's which was really an unforced error.
I am not concerned over a loss here and there but concerned that the Jets do not match up well vs certain teams. In a short series this could be disastrous. I hope I am wrong .I have not watched st.louis play since they last played the Jets. Have you?do you know how they are winning games? Is it run n gun or la kings style?

Into the bin it goes.

I'd much rather the Jets dominate the Knights in a rink they've only lost 4 times in and then lay a stinker against a non playoff team than the other way around.

A win last night would have all but cemented 1st in the west and kept 1OA in tact. Now games against the Blues and Stars become massive, but the guys have nothing to blame but themselves.

The thing that irritates me is the start. In the LA game I thought the Jets played well enough to win, but we just didn't get the bounces.

Last night, the whole team just wasn't prepared to play. By the time they decided to participate it was too late.

Now they're in for a f***ing battle next week.

Makes you wonder if it's Miller's fault for landing where he does on that chart, or the model that's used to make the chart
As you know I don't like these metrics for reasons I've started over and over, but, some players are extremely volatile. I kind of see it in millers play, which is probably why a rhd with a booming shot and decent size has been considered expendable by several teams and isn't an everyday player on the Jets.

I do have to say that over the last 7 games I have seen inconsistency that was not present over most of the season. Which concerns me.
I think it's probably a product of where we are in the season. It's pretty much mission accomplished and it's easy to start thinking about the playoffs, especially when you play a non playoff team.

I bet the team were thinking this was going to be a cake walk, even though it games with HC have been anything but that this year.

omg, the turnovers weren't caused by the kings forecheck at all...

“Not very good for two periods,” said Arniel. “Utah was the better team. Dominated us in all areas. Puck battles. Turnovers. They got their rush game going. We knew they were going to be good in that department. And they’re really good in the first periods. We talked about it before the game and we just weren’t ready to go.

“Dominated in the third but it’s a buck short and a day late. It is frustrating because that’s usually us dominating teams. They came out and got to their game plan fast. We just weren’t good enough.”

I'm telling you...Hellebuyck's been a bit shaky for a while.

Up to March 15, he had a .927 SV% overall, .940 at 5v5. Since then he's .897 overall and .903 at 5v5.

It's only 8 games, but regression comes for everyone.

Paging Goalie Whisperer Wade Flaherty to get this sorted out sooner rather than later...

Except for the week of the 24th-30th where he was 3-0-0 while allowing 3 goals over 3 games and included a shutout.

What are you going on about? You do not think a staple of the Kings game is the forecheck ???
Give it a rest about the narrative. You can choose to ignore the Jets weaknesses if you wish.
no, the kings forecheck was not the reason we lost at all, the only goal you could say that came from the kings forecheck was the 1st one and that would be a stretch as miller just missed a simple pass to a wide open scheifele.... you already conceded that stanley turnover wasn't from a forecheck so please explain how the gus turn over at the red line came from the kings forecheck

even if we were being generous and said the 1st goal was from a tough forecheck that 1 turnover wouldn't be enough to define the game...

He's an .897 even including those 3 games.
