I was too young to appreciate Belfour, was Crawford a better goalie than him?

As for being a top tier goalie year in and year out, no. When Crow played Price, Lundqvist, Quick and maybe Rask were always at the top. Crow was always in a tier just below them.

When Belfour played he was in the top tier with Roy, Brodeur and Hasek.

I thought Crawford had one year where he was on his way to being nominated for the Vezina. Than Malkin ran into him and his season was over.

Belfour won the Vezina in '91 and '93. He was also 3rd in HART voting in '91. He was also a runner up to Brodeur for the Vezina in his first year with the leafs.

How many career points would Kane have to finish with to be retire as the best American player ever in your mind?
Another two three hundred and even then it's Orr Gretzky. Chelios won three Norris trophies with guys like Leech, Bourque, Lidstrom as competition. He was incredibly gifted offensively, an amazing defender and tough as nails with a nastiness to his game.

He was in their time in Chicago...pretty consistently one of the teams top goal scorers, made the Canadian Olympic team.

I feel fine discounting the play in goals as those COVID seasons were a joke the Blackhawks last in the division yet they are in the playoffs? C'mon man.

But fine let's count the play in goals.

Playoff GPG as Blackhawks

Sharp: 0.36
Toews: 0.32
Hossa: 0.19

All that said, I'm fine not retiring Sharp's number as long as guys like Seabrook, Crawford don't either.
Cool story. You can cherry pick as many stats as you want, no one cares.

Chris Chelios is the main reason why I (born and raised in St Louis) am a lifelong Hawks fan going back to the trade from Montreal.

Belfour was an elite goalie Oct thru early April

After that you got this

Belfour had many a terrible moments when team needed him the most. He was awful for many a playoffs as a Hawk

Crawford was far more consistent in his performance then Belfour and came up big in big moments unlike Eddie

I personally hate Belfour. Nothing to do with his play for the Hawks, and everything to do with how he treated fans. (me in particular)

Since there was Sharp talk here recently, I don't know if it is a sure thing, but Corey Perry was told he wasn't wearing 10

Once Hossa got his number retired here it only logical Sharp would too, though maybe he will get a honor night but no jersey retirement

I'd guess when the 100th anniversary season comes is when you'll get a big blitz of those nights... maybe hoping they can do 2/88/19 all in one season.

88 and 19 won’t be have their number retired during the 100th anniversary season. The guidelines the Blackhawks put out for number retirement said the player has to be retired three years.

Belfour was a better goalie than Crow. There is no question. However, he could get surly which didn't endear him with the media.

I remember Hasek as the #3 goalie. No one knew he'd be that great ... although I remember people saying he had the talent to be a starting NHL goalie. Yes, Hasek played for the Hawks ... but he was for the most part irrelevant to our history.

Chelios is the best defensemen I watched playing for the Hawks in my lifetime. Keith was close in his prime, but Chelios was better. The biggest issue with Chelios is that he played with the Red Wings and won Cups. It wasn't a short stint with the Red Wings. He played just as long with them as with the Hawks. Even if it was the Hawks idiotic decision to trade him to Detroit, it's still an issue.

Toews, Kane, and Keith are no brainers. Since #7 will be retired, you could just put Seabrook in the rafters along with Chelios. In my mind, Seabrook started the 3 Cup era when he was picked in the first round.

Hossa is biggest question. He might be the greatest UFA acquisition in Chicago history. His leadership and play were essential to our 3 Cups. The only question: did he play long enough with the Blackhawks?

Getting your number retired should always be a high bar. It's should be harder than reaching the HOF. For that reason, Toews, Kane, and Keith are the only no brainers in the last 30 years.
