I’d do it.
I think Kreider makes sense for Chicago/San Jose… little vet leadership… prob a solid flip option at deadline.

Idk if you are far off cap but he’d help you get to floor. For Anaheim we could use another guy that plays like Poehling and kills penalties in our bottom 6

Krieder would give the top 9 some size and help on power play 2. Can pk some also.

Mik is a weapon for sure on the pk and you’re checking line.

Obvious Kreider for mik rights

Thankfully Kreider has a pretty strong NTC and would almost certainly use it to block a trade to 2nd worst team in NHL especially after Ducks playoff run and his desire to compete goin forward for hopes of Stanley Cup

Ha I was just thinking Frankie Vatrano

Nah the Hawks wouldn't dare dream of taking Vatrano away from the Duck faithful

why does Anaheim need to dump Kreider
We need cap space mostly, but he’s also not a great fit with us going forward…. Would rather give that 1lw spot to someone more ideal for Leo.

Sennecke should be net front on pp, which means there’s not a lot of powerplay ice for Kreider either. Not a great penalty killer anymore…. And our pk could use some help l.

Ah you are right about the NTC i got him and Vatrano NTC confused (vatrano has basically the no canada trade clause).

Kreider has 15 teams.... which means he could possibly pass on chicago.

With the current group, I wouldn't be opposed to Granny

Granlund - Leo - Terry
Cutter - McT - Sennecke

please and thank you

The UFA market is weak but I don't think it's weak enough to give something up for a 36 point winger.

What kind if role was he playing to put up those points?

I havent seen him for a while but I remember him as a guy with speed and little finish.

Doesn't hurt for the Hawks to try to recoup something for him, though I doubt they'll actually get anything back.

He was arguably the best PKer (besides Knight) on what ended up being the 2nd best PK in the league.

I don't fault him for wanting to hit free agency. He's gonna get paid with how limited the UFA class is this year and the rising cap. Big issue with signing him is he's a 32yo looking for term, but some GM will bite.

I assume the term is prob the issue with his negotiations.... which kinda scares me away from even going after him.

I love his game as a depth piece.... but at 31/32.... idk that id be comfortably giving him more than 3, maybe 4 years.

Kreider is on decline

Sorry but he would just take a spot from kid at this point and is no great improvement over crap we are already hoping to get rid of in Burakovsky/Teravainen

why does Anaheim need to dump Kreider

He slowed down as year went along and struggled to end season and in playoffs

He also turned 35 a few weeks ago

In essence he is becoming the Ducks version of Burakovsky/Teravainen... A vet on decline who also for Ducks sake has a sizeable cap hit that they would desire to move on from and use towards other needs/extensions/etc

Yeah, reports are that the hangup between the Hawks and him is due to term. Hawks are flush with cap space the next few years, so if he wanted a big cap hit, that wouldn't be a deal breaker for us.

But paying him for say 5 years would be a mistake for damn near any team.

Hilarious that the PK was pretty much the only thing the Blackhawks did well last season, and now they’re moving on from their best PKer.

Unserious organization.

It's about style and roster space. Sennecke is probably a year or two ahead of where we thought/hoped he'd be. Vatrano is too expensive to keep on the bench and would require assets to move probably. Killorn kills penalties, Poehling has just been solid and become a 3rd liner instead of a 4th line player, and Viel brings physicality and has been very solid (hopefully as a 4th line player next season).

Kreider doesn't really fit on any line. Carlsson likes to play at 100 mph, so Kreider doesn't have the speed. Killorn plays with Sennecke to help defensively and the Poehling line is used more for matchups and 2 way play.

Kreider needs an offensive focused line that doesn't rely on burning the opponents with speed. He's at his best in front of the net tipping shots and screening the goalie.
