given the Toews and Kane signings today, they are going to look to shed some cap for young cheap players. Patrick Sharp seems to be the most likely target in that regards. He's also been in the rumor mill so perhaps someone one heard that either Sharp was shopped or Team Slats has been kicking some tires. They'll probably want at least one of our top tier prospects and a roster player. Dunno if they are the market for a John Moore.

There would be absolutely no way of us fitting under the cap if we dealt a player who's extension could be as low as 1.1 per year for a player who's cap hit is close to 6 mill.

We don't have 5 million dollars of space.

We don;t need 5 million in extra space. The black hawks need roaster spots to fill and cap to lose. They would take someone Like Hags who carries to a2.5m hit. makeing Sharps hit a 2.5 increase not a 5. But its not like its just going to be hags. Even though they shed the cap the hawks also now have to worry about future cap. The hawks are going to need to have a going out of buisness sale for a lot of players who are going to get moved for almost nothing. I doubt the rangers can take advantage of it but Chicago is going to be making some MOVES.

uh... i know we have players to resign and stuff (Krieder,Zuke,Brass) but we do have 14 million in cap space presently. and i wasn't suggesting we acquire Sharp for air so it'd be a straight increase of 6 to our cap but Sharp for air. you take that deal and worry about fixing your cap later.

Why would the Rangers trade Hagelin? The guy is one of our key players, one of our top possession players, one of the top penalty killers in the league, one of the fastest skaters in the league.

Trading him, when he is yet to hit his prime, for 30+ year old Sharp who has a 5+ million cap hit, is not smart asset management. Sharp is also a winger mostly.

Rangers don't have 14 million in cap space. After the RFAs are signed, it will be about 2 million in cap space.

Hawks put themselves in cap hell, the Rangers shouldn't help them.

Sign the RFAs, see if Setoguchi will sign for about 1.5.

I'm totally on board with this post.

I like Sharp, but we need Hagelin, considering we no longer have Callahan and Boyle for PK.

Why would we take the chance of swapping picks?

We do it because our 2016 1st projects to be very late, hopefully and I'm guessing Wings 2015 1st would be around 20, maybe a little under. There is always a risk of injury, etc., but.....

So it is good for us.
They do it only if they accept that is a material consideration we want dealing you 2 guys for a star. An overpaid star, but a legit talented star, who you are getting immediately, and we have to wait on the asset side.

Obviously, a deal NY would not make except for the instant cap relief, and the great universe of what that could mean...

Given each teams cap concerns, I highly doubt it will be a roster trade, if a trade does happen, it'll probably be a depth, minor league, or prospect trade.

Hayes is not signing with the Hawks. Hayes may have already made up his mind where he wants to play--and if he has what if it isn't New York? We trade for his rights and then he signs with someone else?--**** that. The only way I trade for him is he's already agreed to sign with us.

Personally I'd rather hang on to Hagelin than bring back another high $ veteran. We have our own cap problems--taking on salary with Sharp would mean dumping more than just the guy you traded the other way--and I don't see Chicago moving Morin--they're going to need as many cheap contracts as they can muster to be able to field a full team.

if we didnt sign boyle we could probably fit sharp in, but noway we get him..

i think sharp goes to dallas, SJ, mtl, ott, Van this trade deadline or Next yrs draft

On what planet is Nash worth Pavelski AND Hertl?

You would be hard pressed to get Hertl alone for Nash. Or Pavelski for Nash without adding to nash.

Pavelski is the better player

Chicago is 2.217 over the cap limit.

Philly is 3.061 over.

Chicago is more like $1.323-1.567m over, depending on which of the extra forwards doesn't make the roster. They could conceivably be under if they carry 12F and 6D, but I somehow doubt they want that.

Philadelphia is at exactly the Cap. Pronger's contract goes on LTIR as soon as the season starts, giving the team the option to be $4,941,429 over the limit. They need a 13th F on the roster, but they'll have about $1m in available space once the season starts.

Betting Sharp gets traded to the Panthers

Holy **** would Florida be the terror team next year then.... :help:

Edit: You sir are a psychic

Panthers GM Tallon is trying to trade some or organizations' "assets" for a goal scorer. #flapanthers

WHAT!! Dude these trades are absolute trash. No way we give up that much for Sharp and Morin & those two players are both better than Nash. Quit while you're ahead.
